September 27, 2001 | NICK NEWS WITH LINDA ELLERBEE, the longest-running kids' newsmagazine in television history, will commemorate the 10-year anniversary of its Emmy, duPont and Peabody award-winning news coverage with a one-hour, prime-time special, TURNING TEN: A NICK NEWS CELEBRATION, airing Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at 8pm (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon. The special is a retrospective of the weekly newsmagazine's most compelling stories over the last decade, showing how this groundbreaking program has been able to explain events such as war, terrorism, school shootings, AIDS, racism and politics to kids, and how kids have responded by working to change their world for the better.

September 14, 2001 | Nick will air a Nick News Special Edition, Nick News: Kids, Terrorism and American Spirit, on Sunday, September 16, at 8:30 p.m. (ET/PT) to offer kids and their families a starting point to talk about their fears and thoughts surrounding this past Tuesday's series of events. The program also will be shown on Monday, September 17, at 8:30 p.m. (ET/PT) and Wednesday, September 19, at 8:30 p.m. (ET/PT).
- Nickelodeon Renews “The Brothers Garcia” for Third Season & TV Movie in 2002
September 10, 2001 | Nickelodeon's hit primetime, live-action comedy The Brothers Garcia has been renewed for a third season, it was announced today by Cyma Zarghami, Executive Vice-President and General Manager, Nickelodeon. Eleven new episodes of the show will begin production in October in Hollywood. The Brothers Garcia, which made television history in July 2000 as the first English Language sitcom with an all-Latino cast and creative team of writers, directors and producers, will also be featured in a 90-minute tele-film to air on Nickelodeon in the 2002 season.

- Cartoon Network Sets “Grim & Evil” Premiere
August 1, 2001 | GRIM & EVIL, created by Maxwell Atoms, will debut on Cartoon Network at 8:00 p.m. (ET, PT) on August 24, 2001. GRIM & EVIL is comprised of two darkly humorous cartoons, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy and Evil Con Carne.

July 31, 2001 | Powered by the record-shattering Rugrats' "All Growed Up" 10th anniversary special, Nickelodeon in July 2001 drew its largest audience of kids 2-11 ever and continued its longstanding dominance as the number-one basic-cable network on a 24-hour basis. According to Nielsen Media Research for July '01 (7/2-29/01), Nickelodeon delivered a record-breaking average of 992,000 kids 2-11 in total day, marking a 4% increase over last year's record-setting kid delivery levels (957,000). Among households in total day, Nickelodeon averaged a 1.5/1.2 million HH, delivering audience levels comparable to last year's record-setting July '00, when the network garnered its largest household delivery numbers ever.
- Nickelodeon Announces 2001-02 Programming Pick-Ups
July 25, 2001 | Affirming its ongoing commitment to original programming, Nickelodeon has picked up 13 episodes each of the brand-new comedy series The Nick Cannon Show and the newly cast All That, both set to launch Saturday, Sept. 29, in prime time in SNICK (Saturday Night Nickelodeon). The network also has renewed five hit freshmen shows for their second seasons beginning in fall 2001, including As Told By Ginger (20 episodes), The Fairly OddParents (14), Invader ZIM (20), Pelswick (13) and Taina (13). The Nick Jr. preschool favorite Maggie and the Ferocious Beast also has been renewed for 13 episodes.
