- Nickelodeon Names Keith Dawkins Senior Vice President, General Manager of Nicktoons and TeenNick
August 4, 2010 | Nickelodeon has named Keith Dawkins Senior Vice President, General Manager of Nicktoons and TeenNick. In his newly expanded role, Dawkins will add oversight of TeenNick, Nickelodeon’s 24-hour network for teens, to his current role as GM of Nicktoons. Dawkins will run the day-to-day operations for the teen network, including the on-air programming, scheduling and marketing, and will work with MTV Networks’ Affiliate Sales organization on the channel’s distribution rollout. The announcement was made today by Sarah Levy, Chief Operating Officer, Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group, to whom he will continue to report.

July 27, 2010 | TeenNick Chairman Nick Cannon grants viewers VIP entrance into the hottest scene around with The Nightlife, four summer specials featuring the latest trends in fashion, music, dance and entertainment. Airing every Thursday night in August from 9:30-10 p.m. (ET), The Nightlife will feature celebrity guests, including Ice Cube, Anna Kendrick, Travie McCoy, New Boyz, Brandon Routh and T.I., in an exclusive club setting with a grooving dance floor DJ’d by Cannon himself. Teen correspondents Aaron Fresh and Chloe Wang will give viewers the inside scoop on pop culture, with each episode culminating in a musical performance. The Nightlife is hosted and executive produced by Cannon.

July 21, 2010 | TeenNick’s original two-hour Degrassi TV movie, “The Heat is On” (Monday, July 19, 9 p.m. ET), was a scorcher, setting a new record as the highest-rated and most-watched telecast in the net’s history with 1.2 million total viewers (+21% over the previous record-holder “Degrassi Goes Hollywood,” August 14, 2009 [977,000 P2+]).

July 9, 2010 | Degrassi, the smash-hit teen series, will break new creative ground in its landmark 10th season on TeenNick this summer as it’s presented in a prime-time telenovela-style format for the first time in the show’s history. Following a new original two-hour TV movie titled “The Heat is On” airing Monday, July 19 (9 pm ET), Degrassi will premiere in a prime-time serialized format for six straight weeks (Mondays-Thursdays at 9 pm ET) through August 26. Additionally, TeenNick will air a weekly two-hour encore of the week’s past episodes each Friday night (9-11 pm ET).

June 25, 2010 | TeenNick is gearing up for the tenth season premiere of Degrassi: The Next Generation, with an “every episode ever” marathon which is current in progress on the channel (airing weekdays at 6 p.m. ET). The marathon is leading up to the premiere of the tenth season, which will have a total of 48 episodes, double the normal amount for a season.
