- Nickelodeon Names Participants of 11th Annual Fellowship for Diverse Writers
December 20, 2010 | Nickelodeon has named three new participants for its 11th annual Fellowship for Diverse Writers, it was announced today by Karen Kirkland, Executive Director, Nickelodeon Fellowship for Diverse Writers. Kevin Arietta, a New York University graduate and former NYPD cadet, Kiyong Kim, an award-winning writer, director and illustrator graduate of Massachusetts School of Art, and Brian Stampnitsky, a sketch comedian and film school graduate of Vassar, will join the 2010-2011 Nickelodeon fellowship program that offers hands-on writing experience on current live-action and animated series. Additionally, two of last years fellows were recently placed on staff of Nickelodeon's animated hit series Fanboy & Chum Chum and The Penguins of Madagascar.

December 20, 2010 | Nickelodeon marks the first anniversary of the devastating Haitian earthquake with the premiere of Nick News with Linda Ellerbee: "Haiti Rising? Life in the Ruins," on Sunday, Jan. 9, at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT). With nearly half the population under 18, and more than half the homeless being kids, everything that happens in Haiti is a kid-related issue. The half-hour special follows the stories of kids living in Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere even before the earthquake struck.

December 16, 2010 | Nickelodeon has picked up the new multi-camera comedy series Bucket & Skinner's Epic Adventures to add to its full slate of brand-new programming coming in 1Q 2011, it was announced today by Marjorie Cohn, President, Original Programming and Development, Nickelodeon. A multi-camera buddy comedy about two best friends on a never-ending quest for awesomeness, Bucket & Skinner's Epic Adventures is from executive producer Tom Lynch (The Troop, South of Nowhere), creators/executive producers Boyce Bugliari and Jamie McLaughlin (Quintuplets, Kid Notorious) and executive producer Jonathan Stark (According to Jim) under The Tom Lynch Company banner. The series begins production this month in Los Angeles for a February 2011 premiere in the U.S. and globally on Nick channels around the world.

Nickelodeon also closes the year averaging 2.3 million viewers P2+ and a 3.5/1.2 million K2-11, 3.1/680,000 K6-11, 2.3/498,000 T9-14, besting the closest competitor by double-digits with all key kid demos and total viewers.

They can act as a kid’s eyes, legs or hands; they can turn on the lights, open the door, warn someone about food they’re allergic to — or even calm them down when they are anxious. They’re called service dogs. On Sunday, Dec. 5, at 9:00 p.m., Nickelodeon premieres the Nick News with Linda Ellerbee special, “Good Dog,” featuring kids who have these unique dogs in their lives.
