January 15, 2002 | Nickelodeon's newest live-action, half-hour comedy series, The Nick Cannon Show, premieres Saturday, January 19, at 9:30 p.m. (ET/PT) in the newly revamped SNICK (Saturday Night Nickelodeon) line-up. Nick Cannon, the 21-year-old star who has become a favorite with Nickelodeon audiences as a former All That cast member and current host of the TEENick Sunday programming block, executive produces -- along with Tollin Robbins Productions -- and stars in the "comedy-on-the-go" series. Shot entirely on location, The Nick Cannon Show features Cannon "taking over" real-life situations such as a family dinner, a baseball game or lunchtime at a high school cafeteria. Cannon also "mixes it up" with celebrities such as Eddie Murphy, Britney Spears, Usher, The Sopranos' Joe Pantoliano, Mary J. Blige, Master P and Lil' Romeo.

Nickelodeon--distributed to more than 84 million U.S. homes--scored its most-watched year ever among its core demo of kids 2-11 by growing last year's total-day average audience of 866,000 kids 2-11 by +3% to 895,000 year to date.

The special is a retrospective of the weekly newsmagazine's most compelling stories over the last decade, showing how this groundbreaking program has been able to explain events such as war, terrorism, school shootings, AIDS, racism and politics to kids, and how kids have responded by working to change their world for the better.

September 10, 2001 | Nickelodeon's hit primetime, live-action comedy The Brothers Garcia has been renewed for a third season, it was announced today by Cyma Zarghami, Executive Vice-President and General Manager, Nickelodeon. Eleven new episodes of the show will begin production in October in Hollywood. The Brothers Garcia, which made television history in July 2000 as the first English Language sitcom with an all-Latino cast and creative team of writers, directors and producers, will also be featured in a 90-minute tele-film to air on Nickelodeon in the 2002 season.

July 31, 2001 | Powered by the record-shattering Rugrats' "All Growed Up" 10th anniversary special, Nickelodeon in July 2001 drew its largest audience of kids 2-11 ever and continued its longstanding dominance as the number-one basic-cable network on a 24-hour basis. According to Nielsen Media Research for July '01 (7/2-29/01), Nickelodeon delivered a record-breaking average of 992,000 kids 2-11 in total day, marking a 4% increase over last year's record-setting kid delivery levels (957,000). Among households in total day, Nickelodeon averaged a 1.5/1.2 million HH, delivering audience levels comparable to last year's record-setting July '00, when the network garnered its largest household delivery numbers ever.
