This marked Disney Channel’s 40th consecutive week as TV’s #1 network in Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14 – dating back to week of June 13, 2011 – a record for the network. In Kids 2-11, this marked Disney Channel’s 3rd consecutive week at #1– also a record the channel – and its 6th time in the previous 7 weeks.

- Disney Channel Renews “Austin & Ally” for Second Season
March 12, 2012 | Disney Channel has ordered a second season of the hit music-driven comedy series "Austin & Ally," it was announced today by Adam Bonnett, Senior Vice President, Original Programming, Disney Channels Worldwide. The series premiered in December 2011 and year to-date, ranks #1 in its time period among Kids 2-11, 6-11 and Tweens. It follows the improbable partnership between two polar opposites -- Austin, an extroverted musician/singer and Ally, a brilliant yet shy songwriter -- and their two best friends, Trish and Dez.

Set in the world of hip-hop, rap and gospel music, the uplifting modern day story inspired by Cyrano de Bergerac, follows three teens who discover the importance of staying true to oneself.
- Disney Channel Starts Production on Original Movie “Teen Beach Musical”
March 12, 2012 | School's out, surf's up and Disney Channel is taking a dip into the teen beach party movie genre with "Teen Beach Musical," a modern "no more complications, just good vibrations," break into song and dance comedy in which surfer girl McKenzie and her boyfriend Brady literally go into a classic surf movie musical where it's bikers versus surfers -- and they're in for trouble if they don't back down. While they hatch a plan to get back home to present day, the duo try to blend in as everyone around them spontaneously breaks into song and dance. But when they interfere with the plot of the movie, their fate may be changed forever.

- Disney Channel Orders Second Season, TV Movie for “Jessie”
March 12, 2012 | Disney Channel has ordered a second season of its hit series "Jessie" and has also ordered a movie script based on it for its Disney Channel Original Movie franchise, it was announced today by Adam Bonnett, Senior Vice President, Original Programming, Disney Channels Worldwide. The series, starring fan-favorite Debby Ryan, ranks #1 among Kids 2-11, Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14. Its executive producer and creator Pamela Eells O’Connell and co-executive producer Adam Lapidus are developing the movie as well. In addition to Ryan, the series stars: Kevin Chamberlin, Peyton List, Karan Brar, Cameron Boyce and Skai Jackson.
