Boomerang January: ‘Numb Chucks’ Premieres; ‘Grojband’, ‘Tom & Jerry Show’ Join
While we still don’t have an official rebrand date, it’s clear Boomerang is moving toward that direction very fast. This January, three new series join the network: a U.S. premiere and two recent series from Cartoon Network, while two classics get bumped to overnight-only slots.
Starting Monday, January 5, get ready for more current series on weekdays, as Pink Panther and Pals replaces The Flintstones in the 11am hour and the 2014 series The Tom & Jerry Show replaces The Smurfs in the 1pm hour. Also, more of The Garfield Show will fill the 2pm hour, replacing Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends.
Flintstones, Smurfs and Foster’s will remain in their overnight timeslots.
On weekends, the rotating block of Cartoon Network original classics gets replaced by Boomerang premieres of more recent movies (like Chill Out, Scooby-Doo and Tom & Jerry: The Fast and the Furry) in the 9am block. Looney Tunes shorts will fill the 10:30am spot as needed.
The 2014 Canadian animated comedy Numb Chucks will also make its way stateside with premieres on weekends at 1pm. Also, the 2013 series Grojband (which aired for a short time during that year on both Cartoon Network and overnights on Boomerang) will air at 1:30pm.
Weekend afternoon’s 3pm cartoon theater and the 5-7pm rotation of Cartoon Network classics gets replaced by two back-to-back episodes each of What’s New Scooby-Doo?, The Looney Tunes Show and The Tom & Jerry Show. Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? also moves up to the 6pm hour with more What’s New? now in the 7pm hour.
All other schedule areas remain the same, which includes Teen Titans Go! and The Amazing World of Gumball on weekday evenings from 8-10pm.
As always, stick with us for continued Boomerang updates. The network will rebrand sometime in 2015, and with all the new-and-newer series joining the network, that transition is nearing each day.
