During October 2014, Disney Channel was #1 in Total Viewers (1.24 million) in cable TV’s Total Day and against all TV, was #1 in all major youth demographics: Kids 2-11 (616,000/1.6 rating – tie rating), Kids 6-11 (407,000/1.7 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (399,000/1.7 rating). Disney Channel has been TV’s #1 destination for 42-consecutive months for Kids 6-11 and for Tweens, the #1 choice for 54-straight months.
Disney Channel surpassed Nickelodeon by considerable double digits for the 40th-consecutive month in Tweens 9-14 (+86% – 399,000 vs. 215,000) and for the 39th time in the previous 40 months in Kids 6-11 (+32% – 407,000 vs. 309,000).
In Primetime, Disney Channel extended its streak as TV’s #1 network to 116-consecutive months in Kids 6-11 (729,000/3.1 rating) and to 112-straight months in Tweens 9-14 (683,000/2.8 rating).
Disney Channel aired the month’s Top 4 TV telecasts in Kids 2-11, Top 6 in Kids 6-11 (Top 5 below) and Top 9 in Tweens 9-14 (Top 5 below):
Disney Junior on Disney Channel
Boasting double-digit month-to-month increases in Total Viewers and across preschooler demos, Disney Junior on Disney Channel aired the month’s Top 4 cable TV telecasts in Kids 2-5, led by “Sofia the First.”
Month-to-month, the block climbed by 11% in Total Viewers (1.1 million vs. 1.0 million) and by 13% apiece across Kids 2-5 (362,000 vs. 320,000), Girls 2-5 (177,000 vs. 156,000) and Boys 2-5 (185,000 vs. 164,000).
- Additionally, the block aired the Top 2 TV series in Girls 2-5, the Top 5 preschooler cable TV series in Total Viewers and Women 18-49.
24-Hour Disney Junior channel
During October 2014, 24-hour Disney Junior channel stood as TV’s #1 Total Day preschooler-dedicated network for 19-consecutive months in Total Viewers (494,000), Kids 2-5 (243,000/1.6 rating) and Boys 2-5 (122,000/1.5 rating) – each month since reporting public ratings on April 1, 2013 – for 16-straight months in Girls 2-5 (122,000/1.6 rating) and for 17th months in a row in Women 18-49 (91,000).
For the first time ever, the channel landed 3 telecasts among the month’s Top 20 across cable TV among Kids 2-5 with “Toy Story of Terror” (#15 – 659,000/4.2 rating), “Monsters Inc.” (#18 – 619,000/4.0 rating) and “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” (#20 – 618,000/4.0 rating).
- Year-to-year, 24-hour Disney Junior channel was the only preschooler-dedicated TV network to register across the board year-to-year gains, including by 14% in Total Viewers (494,000 vs. 434,000), by 15% in Kids 2-5 (243,000 vs. 211,000) and by 7% in Women 18-49 (91,000 vs. 85,000).
- Nick Jr. (-14% to -25%) and Sprout (-15% to -22%) declined by double digits in the demographics.
- The channel delivered the month’s Top 5 series across preschooler networks in Kids 2-5, Top 4 in Boys 2-5 and Top 3 in Girls 2-5. It also aired the month’s Top 5 preschooler series in Total Viewers and Women 18-49:
- Disney Junior channel led Nick Jr. by double to triple digits across the board: Total Viewers (+76% – 494,000 vs. 281,000), Kids 2-5 (+87% – 243,000 vs. 130,000), Girls 2-5 (+67% – 122,000 vs. 73,000), Boys 2-5 (+114% – 122,000 vs. 57,000) and Women 18-49 (+78% – 91,000 vs. 51,000).
- Disney Junior channel exceeded Sprout by triple digits for the 19th–consecutive month among Total Viewers (+241% – 494,000 vs. 145,000), Kids 2-5 (+268% – 243,000 vs. 66,000), Girls 2-5 (+294% – 122,000 vs. 31,000), Boys 2-5 (+249% – 122,000 vs. 35,000) and Women 18-49 (+214% – 91,000 vs. 29,000).
