Disney Channel’s Third Quarter 2014 Total Day Ratings Feats Include
#1 Ranking in Total Viewers, Kids 2-11, Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14;
“Girl Meets World” as TV’s #1 Series Among Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14; and “Sofia the First” as TV’s #1 Series With Kids 2-11

For 3Q 2014 in Total Day measurements, Disney Channel was TV’s #1 network in Total Viewers, Kids 2-11 (757,000/1.9 rating), Kids 6-11 (548,000/2.3 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (479,000/2.0 rating). The ratings results mark Disney Channel’s 14th-consecutive quarter at #1 among Kids 6-11 (2Q11 to present) and the 22nd consecutive quarter at #1 among Tweens 9-14 (2Q09 to present).
Disney Channel out-delivered Nickelodeon by at least double digits for the 13th quarter in a row in Kids 6-11 (+30% – 548,000 vs. 421,000) and Tweens 9-14 (+58% – 479,000 vs. 303,000) – dates back to 6/27/11.
In Primetime, Disney Channel is TV’s #1 network for the 41st-consecutive quarter in Kids 6-11 (781,000/3.3 rating) and 64th-straight quarter in Tweens 9-14 (666,000/2.8 rating).
- The premiere of the Disney Channel Original Movie “How to Build A Better Boy” (8/15/14, 8:00 – 9:45 p.m.) handily ranked as the #1 TV telecast across major youth demographics: Kids 2-11 (3.13 million/8.0 rating), Kids 6-11 (2.53 million/10.6 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (2.30 million/9.5 rating) and was the #1 cable TV’s movie in Total Viewers (5.78 million).
- “Girl Meets World” was the #1 TV series among Kids 6-11 (1.32 million/5.5 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.25 million/5.2 rating) while “Sofia the First” was the #1 TV series of 3Q14 among Kids 2-11 (2.12 million/5.4 rating).
24- Hour Disney Junior channel
Delivering all time quarter highs, the 24-hour Disney Junior channel ranks as TV’s #1 preschooler network for the 6th-consecutive quarter in Total Viewers (502,000), Kids 2-5 (244,000/1.6 rating), Girls 2-5 (121,000/1.6 rating), Boys 2-5 (123,000/1.5 rating) and Women 18-49 (94,000) – each quarter since reporting public ratings at the top of 2Q13 – towering over Nick Jr. by its largest margin to date and topping Sprout by triple digits for the 6th quarter in a row. Of note, this marked Nick Jr.’s 4th-straight quarter of declines.
3Q14 vs. 3Q13, the channel built by strong double digits across target measures including by 14% in Total Viewers (502,000 vs. 424,000) and by 16% in Kids 2-5 (244,000 vs. 215,000).
Disney Junior channel delivered the Top 5 series among Kids 2-5 across preschool-devoted TV networks and the Top 2 in Women 18-49:
- Disney Junior channel exceeded Nick Jr. by double digits for the 6th-straight quarter across target demos: by 67% in Total Viewers (502,000 vs. 301,000), by 85% in Kids 2-5 (244,000 vs. 132,000), by 83% in Girls 2-5 (121,000 vs. 66,000), by 84% in Boys 2-5 (123,000 vs. 67,000) and by 74% in Women 18-49 (94,000 vs. 54,000), despite being in 2.6 million fewer homes.
- Disney Junior channel out-performed Sprout by triple digits for the 6th-consecutive quarter across key categories: Total Viewers (+280% – 502,000 vs. 132,000), Kids 2-5 (+300% – 244,000 vs. 61,000), Girls 2-5 (+303% – 121,000 vs. 30,000), Boys 2-5 (+284% – 123,000 vs. 32,000) and Women 18-49 (+236% – 94,000 vs. 28,000).
