YTV Greenlights Music Reality Show “Mission: 4Count”

Canadian network YTV is introducing a reality series based on the emerging pop band 4Count, managed by pop star Nick Cannon.
The (8 x 30-minutes) series, Mission: 4Count, is being produced by Tricon Films & Television and follows 4Count members Aaron Scott, Ben Robinson and brothers Adam and Kieran Ackerman, who left their home in California to perfect their musical skills in Canada.
The premise of the show involves Cannon sending the boys out on “music missions,” giving them a music industry boot camp of rehearsals, recording sessions and live performances.
Tricon joined the project following a meeting with YTV, Cannon and the members of the band in New York last year, according to Marc Kell Whitehead, general manager of production at Tricon. YTV was looking for a production partner to work with Cannon’s label, Ncredible Entertainment, to develop a series focusing on 4Count.
“We’ve built a solid platform in the docu/reality space for kids through our seven seasons of The Next Star and it’s spin-off series The Next Star: SuperGroup. After meeting Nick and 4Count, we were excited that we could use our skills and partnerships in both television and music to create a fun series for YTV’s audience,” Whitehead told realscreen‘s sister publication Playback Daily.
The series is currently starting production in Toronto and is slated to air this October. In anticipation of the series launch, 4Count will be featured in the YTV Summer Beach Bash special, airing on YTV on August 23.
4Count was signed by Sony Music Entertainment Canada this past spring.
