Disney XD Orders “Commando Crash” Pilot
Disney XD has ordered a comedy pilot based on the main puppet character in their original sitcom Crash & Bernstein.
Deadline.com reports that Emmy-nominated puppet master Tim Lagasse, who operates and voices the purple puppet Crash, will take the character to a military school in Commando Crash called Oak Shield Military Academy. The school has “a stark division between the Alphas, who aspire to learn the good ways of an Oak Shield soldier, and the Clunks, a group of out-casted cadets who are there to mend their propensity for trouble-making.” Crash will rally the Clunks to stand up to the Alphas.
Adam Dorfman, Cameron Ocasio, Armaan Juneja, Nicholas Stargel and Megan Goodman will star as Clunks and Alphas in the series. Crash & Bernstein creator Eric Friedman wrote the pilot and will executive produce alongside Jim Armogida and Steve Armogida. Victor Gonzalez will direct the pilot.
Crash & Bernstein premiered in October 2012 and ran for a short two seasons. The first season of 26 episodes ended in September 2013 with the short second season premiering right after in October. After seven episodes of the season, premieres went on hiatus and returned this month. The reason for the series’ short live-span is unknown.
This pilot will seem to serve as a spin-off that stars only the main character Crash.
