Disney Channel: Total Day and Prime Highlights
For the week of November 25, 2013, Disney Channel delivered a Total Day sweep, ranking as cable TV’s #1 network in Total Viewers (1.943 million) and TV’s #1 network across major youth – Kids 2-11 (1.033 million/2.6 rating), Kids 6-11 (760,000/3.2 rating) and Tween 9-14 (699,000/2.9 rating) demos. Additionally, the network hit an 18-week high in Tweens 9-14, 16-week high in Total Viewers and 15-week high in Kids 2-11 and Kids 6-11 – since weeks of 7/22/13, 8/5/13 and 8/12/13, respectively.
Impressively, Disney Channel has been the #1 TV network in Total Day for two and a half years in Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14 (129 consecutive weeks), trumping Nickelodeon by at least double digits for 108-straight weeks in Kids 6-11 (+38% – 760,000 vs. 552,000) and for 110 weeks in a row in Tweens 9-14 (+87% – 699,000 vs. 373,000) – dates back to week of 11/7/11 and 10/24/11, respectively.
In Prime, Disney Channel soared to an over 4-month high in Total Viewers (2.776 million) – since week of 7/15/13 – ranking as the week’s #2 cable TV network, and along with #1 ESPN, gave The Walt Disney Company the Top 2 most-watched networks in Prime for the 3rd consecutive week.
Further, the network stood as cable TV’s #1 network for the 446th consecutive week among Kids 6-11 (1.077 million/4.5 rating – 8+ years) and 183rd week in a row in Tweens 9-14 (968,000/4.0 rating – 3+ years). This week also hit an over 4-month high in Tweens 9-14 and near 4-month high in Kids 2-11 (1.438 million/3.7 rating) and Kids 6-11, since weeks of 7/15/13, 8/5/13 and 8/12/13, respectively.
- Friday’s premiere of “Good Luck Jessie: NYC Christmas,” (8:00 – 9:00 p.m.) a one hour cross-over programming event that blended the hit comedy series “Good Luck Charlie” and “Jessie,” ranked as the week’s #1 TV telecast in Kids 2-11 (2.921 million/7.4 rating), Kids 6-11 (2.381 million/10.0 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (2.038 million/8.4 rating).
- “Good Luck Jessie: NYC Christmas” towered over the premiere of Nickelodeon’s original movie “Jinxed” (7:00 – 8:30 p.m.) by 81% in Total Viewers (5.8 million vs. 3.2 million), by 53% in Kids 2-11 (2.9 million/7.4 rating vs. 1.9 million/4.9 rating), by 60% in Kids 6-11 (2.4 million/10.0 rating vs. 1.5 million/6.4 rating) and by 67% in Tweens 9-14 (2.0 million/8.4 rating vs. 1.2 million/4.9 rating).
- “Good Luck Jessie: NYC Christmas” became the #1-ranked cable TV telecast in over four months across the target kid demos, becoming the #3 cable TV telecast year to date in Kids 6-11 and Tweens – behind only the debuts of DCOM “Teen Beach Movie” and original comedy series “Liv and Maddie” (7/19/13).
- In its first encore, “Good Luck Jessie: NYC Christmas” (Sat., 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) ranked as Saturday’s #1 TV telecast across Kids 2-11 (1.876 million/4.8 rating), Kids 6-11 (1.481 million/6.2 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.284 million/5.3 rating), and was the #2 scripted cable TV telecast in Total Viewers (3.425 million).
- Its second encore (Sat., 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.), averaged another 2.693 million Total Viewers and over 1 million Kid 2-11, Kid 6-11 and Tween 9-14 demos.
- Sunday’s all new “Liv and Maddie” (8:00 – 8:30 p.m.) stood as the series’ #1 regular telecast of all time in Tweens 9-14 (1.531 million/6.3 rating), ranking as the week’s #2 TV telecast.
- Overall, Disney Channel aired the Top 6 cable TV telecasts in Kids 2-11 and Top 7 in Tweens 9-14 (Top 5 below):
24-Hour Disney Junior channel
The 24-hour Disney Junior Channel stood as TV’s #1 preschool-dedicated Total Day network for the 35th week in a row with Total Viewers (470,000), Kids 2-5 (220,000/1.4 rating) and Boys 2-5 (119,000/1.5 rating) – each week since reporting ratings publicly on 4/1/13 – for the 18th consecutive week in Girls 2-5 (101,000/1.3 rating) and 23rd in Women 18-49 (92,000).
Notably, this week stood as Disney Junior Channel’s #2 week on record in Total Viewers and hit a 10 week high in Boys 2-5 – since week of 9/16/13.
- In Total Viewers, the premieres of holiday specials, “Sofia the First: Holiday in Enchancia” (1.186 million) and “Doc McStuffins: A Very McStuffins Christmas” (1.137 million), were the week’s Top 2 telecasts on preschool-dedicated networks and ranked among the channel’s Top 6 series telecasts on record.
- Disney Junior Channel exceeded Nick Jr. for the 35th week in a row in Kids 2-5 (+40% – 220,000 vs. 157,000) and Boys 2-5 (+53% – 119,000 vs. 78,000), for the 18th consecutive week in Girls 2-5 (+29% – 101,000 vs. 78,000), for the 23rd week running in Women 18-49 (+56% – 92,000 vs. 59,000) and for the 34th time in the previous 35 weeks (tied for #1 week of 6/3/13), despite being in 12.8 million fewer homes.
- In fact, the Channel topped Nick Jr. by record margins in Women 18-49 and recorded its largest competitive advantage in 10 weeks in Total Viewers and Boys 2-5, in 8 weeks in Kids 2-5 and in 7 weeks in Girls 2-5, since weeks of 9/16/13, 9/30/13 and 10/07/13, respectively.
- Disney Junior Channel defeated Sprout by its largest margin to date, more than tripling the network in Total Viewers (+246% – 470,000 vs. 136,000) and Kids 2-5 (+293% – 220,000 vs. 56,000), and boasted its biggest win in over six months in Boys 2-5 (+400% – 119,000 vs. 24,000) – since week of 5/13/13.
