Disney Channel’s premiere of a “Sofia the First” special, “Sofia the First: The Floating Palace,” (Sunday, November 24, 7:00 p.m.) — featuring a special appearance by Ariel from Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” — sailed to regal ratings, delivering 4.7 million Total Viewers.  It is the #1 evening preschool telecast of the year to date, and the #1 evening telecast across all TV among Kids 2-5 (1.1 million/7.1 rating) and Girls 2-5 (706,000/9.3 rating). It was also this year’s #1 evening preschool telecast among Boys 2-5 (396,000/5.0 rating), Kids 2-11 (2.3 million/5.8 rating), Adults 18-49 (1.4 million/1.1 rating) and Women 18-49 (911,000/1.4 rating).

“Sofia the First: The Floating Palace” ranked as Disney Channel’s #5 telecast of all time in Girls 2-5, and “Sofia’s” 2nd-most-watched telecast to date in Total Viewers, Kids 2-11, Adults 18-49 and Women 18-49, behind only last year’s prequel movie, “Sofia the First: Once Upon A Princess.”

2013 to date, “Sofia the First” is TV’s #1 series in Girls 2-5, and the #1 preschool cable TV series in Total Viewers and Women 18-49. Its animated TV movie prequel, “Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess” remains the #1 cable TV telecast of all time in Kids 2-5 and Girls 2-5, and the #1 preschool cable TV telecast ever in Total Viewers and Women 18-49.

The next telecast of “Sofia the First: The Floating Palace” is on the 24-hour Disney Junior channel Thursday, November 28 (7:00 p.m., ET/PT).

Created for kids age 2-7 and their parents/caregivers, and starring the voices of Ariel Winter (ABC’s “Modern Family”), Sara Ramirez (ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy”), Wayne Brady (“Let’s Make a Deal”) and Tim Gunn (“Project Runway”), “Sofia the First” follows the adventures of Princess Sofia, a young girl who is learning how to adjust to royal life after her mom marries the king. Along the way, she discovers that the inner character of kindness, generosity, loyalty, honesty and grace is what makes a real princess.

The series was developed by Craig Gerber (“Pixie Hollow Games”), who also serves as executive producer and story editor. Jamie Mitchell (“Special Agent Oso”) is executive producer and director. John Kavanaugh (“Winnie the Pooh: Springtime with Roo”) serves as songwriter/music director and Kevin Kliesch (“Tangled Ever After”) is the composer. “Sofia the First” is a production of Disney Television Animation.
