Disney Channel Not Letting Go of Zendaya
Even with Shake It Up already canceled and its final episode premiering this Sunday, the network is, however, not going to let series co-star Zendaya slip them by.
Zendaya is already cast to lead Zapped, a new Disney Channel TV movie for 2014. Now, the network is looking to have the 17-year-old actress star in a new series for the network.
Deadline.com is reporting that Disney Channel has greenlighted the comedy pilot Super Awesome Katy. The show would feature 16-year-old Katy Cooper (Zendaya) as “an outspoken and confident technology wiz and skilled black belt, who discovers that both her parents are spies with aspirations that she will follow in their footsteps”.
Filming of the pilot is expected in early 2014 for a consideration in the 2014-15 season.
