Disney Channel: Total Day and Prime Highlights
For the week of July 29, 2013, Disney Channel swept Total Day for the 10th consecutive week across target Kid 2-11 (1.12 million/2.8 rating), Kid 6-11 (826,000/3.5 rating) and Tween 9-14 (678,000/2.9 rating) demos, and was #1 for the 3rd week in a row in Total Viewers (1.95 million). Notably, this marked the network’s 112th straight week atop the competition in Kids 6-11 and Tweens.
Disney Channel towered over #2 Nickelodeon by at least double digits for the 91st consecutive week in Kids 6-11 (+41% – 826,000 vs. 587,000), 93rd in Tweens (+66% – 678,000 vs. 408,000) and 3rd in Kids 2-11 (+16% – 1.12 million vs. 969,000).
In Prime, Disney Channel extended its streak as cable TV’s #1 network to 431 consecutive weeks in Kids 6-11 (1.05 million/4.4 rating – 8+ years) and 166 weeks in Tweens 9-14 (824,000/3.5 rating – 3+ years).
- Led by “Gravity Falls” in Kids 2-11 and Kids 6-11 and “Shake It Up” in Tweens 9-14, Disney Channel aired the week’s Top 3 TV telecasts in Kids 2-11 (16 of 20), Top 29 telecasts in Kids 6-11 (47 of 50 – Top 5 below) and Top 29 in Tweens 9-14 (48 of 50 – Top 5 below):
Disney Junior Preschooler Block on Disney Channel
Disney Junior’s “Sofia the First” stood as cable TV’s #1 series for the 2nd consecutive week in Kids 2-5 and the #1 preschool cable TV series in Total Viewers and Women 18-49. In fact, Friday’s all new episode set a series high for an original telecast in Total Viewers (2.95 million) and ranked among its Top 5 to date in Kids 2-5, Girls 2-5 and Women 18-49.
Overall, the block held the week’s Top 3 cable TV series in Kids 2-5, Top 4 cable TV series in Girls 2-5 and the Top 4 preschool cable TV series in Total Viewers and Boys 2-5.
24-Hour Disney Junior Channel
The 24-hour Disney Junior Channel ranked as cable TV’s #1 preschool-dedicated network in Total Day for the 18th consecutive week – each week since reporting public ratings on 4/1/13 – with Kids 2-5 (212,000/1.3 rating) and Boys 2-5 (111,000/1.4 rating), for the 17th time in the previous 18 weeks in Total Viewers (422,000) and for the 5th time in the previous 6 weeks in Girls 2-5 (101,000/1.3 rating).
Notably, Disney Junior Channel delivered its 2nd-most-watched week on record in Total Viewers (422,000) and Kids 2-5 (212,000).
· Disney Junior Channel topped Nick Jr. for the 18th week in a row in Kids 2-5 (+24% – 212,000 vs. 171,000) and Boys 2-5 (+39% – 111,000 vs. 80,000), and for the 17th time in 18 weeks in Total Viewers (+17% – 422,000 vs. 361,000), despite being in 16.4 million fewer homes.
· Disney Junior Channel surpassed Sprout by triple digits for the 18th straight week in the target demos: Total Viewers (+148% – 422,000 vs. 170,000), Kids 2-5 (+186% – 212,000 vs. 74,000) and Boys 2-5 (+344% – 111,000 vs. 25,000), and for the 17th time in the previous 18 weeks in Girls 2-5 (+106% – 101,000 vs. 49,000).
