DISNEY AND COMMON SENSE MEDIA LAUNCH CAMPAIGN TO HELP KIDS SAFELY NAVIGATE THE INTERNET AND OTHER DIGITAL MEDIA
Furthering its commitment to kids and families, Disney Channel has teamed with Common Sense Media to help kids and tweens safely navigate the internet and other digital platforms and to provide both parents and kids with easy tips and tools about online safety and etiquette. To encourage families to talk about these issues together, Disney Channel will present an episode of its hit series “Dog With A Blog” that delivers both entertainment and information to kids and parents about online safety.
Immediately following the episode’s premiere, a PSA featuring the cast of “Dog With A Blog” reinforces Common Sense Media’s “5 Tips for Teens” and “10 Tips for Parents” for smart and safe use of digital media. The tips include guarding privacy while online, balancing time spent in cyberspace and thinking before texting or posting material online. Kids and families can visit DisneyChannel.com/DogWithABlog to watch the PSA and DisneyChannel.disney.com/tips for access to the tips.
In the episode, “My Parents Posted What?!,” social media novices Ellen and Bennett discover that 14-year-old Avery has secretly created a Buddy Bop account after they forbid her from joining the popular social media site. To teach her a lesson, her parents post silly pictures of themselves on her homepage, but their plan backfires when they inadvertently add a video that is widely-distributed at Avery’s school. The episode and PSA premiere SUNDAY, AUGUST 11 (8:00-8:30 p.m. ET/PT) on Disney Channel.
“Dog With A Blog” stars G Hannelius as Avery Jennings, Blake Michael as Tyler Jennings, Francesca Capaldi as Chloe Jennings, Beth Littleford as Ellen Jennings, Regan Burns as Dr. Bennett Jennings and Stephen Full as the voice of Stan. The episode was written by series creator Michael Kaplan and directed by David Kendall.
