For the week of June 10, 2013, 24-hour kid-driven, family dedicated television network Disney Channel climbed to 23-week highs in Total Viewers (1.88 million), Kids 6-11 (708,000/3.0 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (647,000/2.7 rating) – since holiday week of 12/31/12 – ranking as cable TV’s #1 network in Total Viewers for the 2nd consecutive week and sweeping target kid demos Kids 2-11 (1.02 million/2.6 rating), 6-11s and 9-14s for the 3rd week in a row.
Impressively, Disney Channel has dominated TV’s landscape on a weekly basis for over two years in Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14 – dates back to week of 6/13/11 – towering over Nickelodeon by at least double digits for the 83rd and 85th straight week, respectively. In fact, this week, Disney Channel more than doubled Nickelodeon in Tweens 9-14 (+109% – 647,000 vs. 310,000) and recorded its largest competitive advantage in 10 weeks in Kids 2-11 (+10% – 1.02 million vs. 924,000) and Kids 6-11 (+49% – 708,000 vs. 474,000) – since week of 4/1/13.
In Prime, Disney Channel extended its streak as cable TV’s #1 network to 424 consecutive weeks in Kids 6-11 (980,000/4.2 rating – 8+ years), for 159 weeks in a row in Tweens 9-14 (824,000/3.5 rating – 3+ years), and was the #2 cable TV network in Total Viewers (2.43 million), topping #3 History Channel by a solid 14% (vs. 2.14 million).
- Disney Channel delivered the Top 10 TV telecasts (Top 5 below) in Kids 6-11 (18 of Top 20) and Top 2 TV telecasts in Kids 2-11 and Tweens 9-14 (48 of Top 50):
Disney Junior Preschooler Block on Disney Channel
In its first week airing daily, Disney Junior’s “Sofia the First” ranked as cable TV’s #1 series in Kids 2-5 (709,000/4.4 rating) and Girls 2-5 (435,000/5.5 rating), and the #1 preschool cable TV series in Total Viewers (2.18 million) and Women 18-49 (422,000/0.7 rating).
Friday’s all new “Sofia the First,” which kicked off the block’s summer-long ‘Pirates and Princess’ event and featured Princess Jasmine, ranked as cable TV’s #1 telecast in Kids 2-5 (949,000/5.9 rating) and Girls 2-5 (562,000/7.2 rating) and the #1 preschool cable TV telecast in Total Viewers (2.62 million) and Women 18-49 (469,000/0.7 rating). In fact, this was the series’ #2 original telecast on record in Total Viewers, #1 original telecast ever in Boys 2-5 (387,000/4.7 rating) and most-watched in 2 months in Kids 2-5 and Girls 2-5 – since 4/12/13.
Overall, the block aired 2 of the week’s Top 3 cable TV series in Kids 2-5 with “Sofia the First” and “Jake and the Never Land Pirates,” the Top 3 cable TV series in Girls 2-5 with “Sofia the First,” “Doc McStuffins” and “Jake and the Never Land Pirates,” and the Top 4 preschool cable TV series in Total Viewers with “Sofia the First,” “Doc McStuffins,” “Jake and the Never Land Pirates” and “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.”
24-Hour Disney Junior Channel
The 24-hour Disney Junior Channel stood as cable TV’s #1 preschool-dedicated Total Day network for the 11th straight week – every week since reporting public ratings – with Kids 2-5 (171,000/1.1 rating) and Boys 2-5 (99,000/1.2 rating), and for the 10th time in the previous 11 weeks in Total Viewers (351,000).
- Disney Junior Channel surpassed Nick Jr. for the 11th week in a row in Kids 2-5 (+5% – 171,000 vs. 163,000) and Boys 2-5 (+15% – 99,000 vs. 86,000), and led in Total Viewers (+4% – 351,000 vs. 337,000), despite being in 16.4 million fewer homes.
- Disney Junior Channel towered over Sprout by triple digits for the 11th consecutive week in the key demos of Total Viewers (+128% – 351,000 vs. 154,000), Kids 2-5 (+138% – 171,000 vs. 72,000) and Boys 2-5 (+209% – 99,000 vs. 32,000), and by at least double-digits in Girls 2-5 (+76% – 72,000 vs. 41,000).
