On July 16, 2013. your patience will finally pay off as Cartoon Network releases the much-anticipated Regular Show: The Complete First & Second Seasons on DVD…and on Blu-ray. Jam-packed with all 40 11-minute episodes from the series’ first and second seasons – yes, that’s 440 minutes of your favorite, hilarious episodes! – the release marks the first time the Emmy Award-winning animated series created by J.G. Quintel (The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, Camp Lazlo) and produced by Cartoon Network Studios will be available as a full season set and the show’s first Blu-ray release. If that’s not enough of a draw, both the DVD and Blu-ray will also include more than two hours of bonus features, highlighted by: audio commentary for every single episode from Quintel and the show’s storyboard artists; the unaired pilot episode from the series and an animatic for it; a video of Quintel pitching the series’ first episode, “The Power” complete with animatic; an interview with Quintel about the series; and his student short, “The Naïve Man from Lolliland,” plus so much more. The three-disc DVD release will come with a suggested retail price of $36.94, while the two-disc Blu-ray release will be $39.98.
“Regular Show fans have been waiting for a full season set since our first episodic release, and now, we’re excited to release not only a ridiculously-loaded DVD release for its first two seasons, but to also offer it in high-def format on Blu-ray,” said Erik Resnick, vice president of home entertainment, Cartoon Network Enterprises. “J.G. and the show team have worked so hard to create fantastic bonus features – and we hope fans can take some time to fully enjoy all of them before asking us when season three will be available.”
Regular Show is a breakout television series featured in the Monday night comedy block on Cartoon Network, which also includes Adventure Time. The series stars two best friends and slacker park groundskeepers, Mordecai and Rigby, who also happen to be a blue jay and a raccoon. Their attempts to escape their everyday boredom take them to fantastical extremes, much to the chagrin of their boss Benson (an anthropomorphic gumball machine). Other characters in the show include Pops (a lollipop), Skips (a yeti), Muscle Man (a muscle man) and many others.
Since its debut on Cartoon Network in September 2010, Regular Show continues to thrive with ratings results that are anything but regular. It was the #1-ranked show for all of 2012 on Monday nights among boys 6-14, boys 6-11 and kids 9-14, according to Nielsen Media Research data. It is currently in its fourth season, with new episodes debuting on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT, and replays throughout the week. Additionally, the Regular Show consumer products program continues to grow and create excitement for fans of all ages, led by a master toyline from Jazwares currently available exclusively at Toys”R”Us retailers nationwide and full line of apparel and accessories for both kids and adults available across specialty and mid-tier retailers nationwide.
Regular Show: The Complete First & Second Seasons joins the show’s episodic DVD catalog, Regular Show Slack Pack, Regular Show: The Best DVD In The World.* At This Moment In Time and the recently released Regular Show: Party Pack.
