For the week of March 11, 2013, powered by Friday’s 1-hour “The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex” special and an all-new “Gravity Falls,” and Sunday’s original “Austin & Ally” and “Shake It Up,”, Disney Channel ranked as TV’s #1 network in Total Day for the 92nd consecutive week in Kids 6-11 (597,000/2.5 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (551,000/2.3 rating), out-performing Nickelodeon by double digits for the 71st (+34% – vs. 446,000) and 73rd consecutive weeks (+86% – vs. 296,000), respectively.
With 2 weeks remaining in 1Q 13, Disney Channel will finish as the #1 TV network in Total Day for the 7th consecutive quarter in Kids 6-11 (618,000/2.6 rating – dates back to 2Q11), 16th straight quarter in Tweens (546,000/2.3 rating – dates back to 2Q09), and is poised to rank #1 for the 4th time in the previous 5 quarters in Kids 2-11 (972,000/2.5 rating). Further, Disney Channel is currently home to the Top 3 TV series in Kids 2-11 (#1 “Austin & Ally,” 2.32 million/5.9 rating), and Top 5 TV series in both Kids 6-11 (#1 “Shake It Up,” 1.9 million/8.2 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (#1 “Shake It Up,” 2.0 million/8.3 rating).
In Prime, Disney Channel recorded its most-watched week in 8 months in Tweens 9-14 (since week of 8/13/12), and competitively, stood as the #1 cable TV network for the 411th consecutive week in Kids 6-11 (1.1 million/4.7 rating – nearly 8 years) and for 147 straight weeks in Tweens 9-14 (994,000/4.2 rating – nearly 3 years). As of 1Q13, Disney Channel will have dominated TV’s landscape for the 35th straight quarter in Kids 6-11 and for the 58th in Tweens.
- Friday’s premiere of “The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex” (8:00 – 9:00 p.m.) was easily the week’s #1 TV telecast across all target demos, and impressively, became the #1 TV telecast of 2013 to date in Tweens 9-14 (2.25 million/9.4 rating), the #2 TV telecast in Kids 2-11 (2.87 million/7.3 rating) and Kids 6-11 (2.28 million/9.7 rating) and the #1 kids’ cable TV telecast in Total Viewers (5.9 million).
- Friday’s all-new “Gravity Falls” (9:00 – 9:30 p.m.) rose to a series high in Total Viewers (4.50 million) – standing as the week’s #1 animated cable TV telecast – and was the week’s #2 TV telecast in Kids 2-11 (2.54 million/6.4 rating) and Kids 6-11 (1.99 million/8.4 rating).
- Overall, Disney Channel aired the week’s Top 4 TV telecasts in Kids 2-11, Top 12 in Kids 6-11 (Top 5 Below) and Top 29 in Tweens 9-14 (Top 5 Below):
Disney Junior Preschooler Block
For the week, Disney Junior’s “Sofia the First” on Disney Channel’s preschooler block for kids age 2-7 was cable TV’s #1 series for the 7th consecutive week in Kids 2-5 (722,000/4.5 rating) and Girls 2-5 (442,000/5.6 rating), marking the series’ 12th straight week as the #1 preschool cable TV series with preschoolers.
With 2 weeks left in 1Q13, the block is set to deliver the Top 4 cable TV series in Kids 2-5 and Girls 2-5 and the Top 4 preschool cable TV series in Women 18-49 with “Sofia the First,” “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse,” “Jake and the Never Land Pirates” and “Doc McStuffins” (varying order, listed below). Notably, regal newcomer “Sofia” accounts for the Top 5 TV telecasts of 1Q13 to date in Kids 2-5 and Girls 2-5.
