Are “Good Luck Charlie” and “Shake It Up” On Their Last Seasons?
UPDATE: Yes, both series are ending. Good Luck Charlie will end with 100 episodes from four total seasons and Shake It Up is canceled after three seasons and 78 episodes.
PREVIOUSLY…
Stars from both Disney Channel series, Good Luck Charlie and Shake It Up, are using Twitter to indicate that their series are likely ending after their current seasons.
Leigh-Allyn Baker (Amy Duncan on Good Luck Charlie) has tweeted several times over the past few months that this will be the series final season. The latest tweet from March 8 seems to prove it even more. Baker has also been retweeting fans that don’t want the series to end.
For Shake It Up, star Davis Cleveland (who plays Flynn Jones) has tweeted a lot recently about this possibly being the final season. The last episode wraps filming today (March 12). These tweets from today seem to confirm the uncertainty of the series’ future.
It’s important to note that neither series has officially been canceled. However, Disney Channel series have a trend of not going past their fourth season (minus the combined Suite Life series). Good Luck Charlie is currently in production on their fourth season. Shake It Up is on their third.
Today is the Disney Channel upfront. Will we hear about new season for these shows, or will they just announce that new episodes will continue (which is true, as both have quite a number left to show)? Stick with us to find out!
UPDATE: As I expected, today’s upfront didn’t indicate new seasons for either show – just that their “exciting 2013-14 slate also includes new episodes” for both shows. Which is true – both still have episodes from their current seasons to air.
Good Luck Charlie’s fourth season premieres April 28. Shake It Up is already in the middle of airing their third seasons, with new episodes running Sunday nights.
