Dora the Explorer Ranks as Top Preschool Program
NEW YORK—Nov. 13, 2012—Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) grew their winning streak to a fourth straight week, with SpongeBob topping all TV with K2-11 and TMNT winning its time period by double digits among K2-11 across all TV for Nov. 5-11, 2012. Nickelodeon’s preschool properties also posted solid ratings, with “Dora’s Royal Rescue” nabbing Nick the top preschool program for the week. Nickelodeon also was basic cable’s top-rated network in total day with kids 2-11 and total viewers this week.
The Nov. 10 episode of TMNT, “Never Say Xever” averaged a 4.2/1.4 million with kids 2-11 and 2.9 million total viewers. The show was number-one in its 11 a.m. (ET/PT) time period with both demos across all TV, easily surpassing the next closest competitor (The Disney Channel) by +10% with K2-11 and +41% with total viewers.
SpongeBob SquarePants maintained the top spot as the number- one kids’ show on all TV for the week of Nov. 5-11 for the fourth straight week. “Patrick-Man!/ Gary’s New Toy” (Saturday, Nov. 10 at 10:30 a.m., ET/PT), averaged a 6.3/2.1 million with K2-11 and 3.9 million total viewers–ranking as the most-watched kids’ program among total viewers for the week.
Additionally, Dora the Explorer’s “Dora’s Royal Rescue” hour-long special (Monday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. ET/PT) ranks as the week’s top telecast with K2-5 across all TV, averaging a 7.0/945,000 K2-5 and 2.6 million total viewers. Based on the Miguel de Cervantes literary classic, “Dora’s Royal Rescue” includes guest voices from Andy Garcia and Placido Domingo as Don Quixote and Malambruno respectively, and features Dora as a knight and Boots as her squire as they help the noble horse Rocinante, rescue Don Quixote (Garcia) who is imprisoned by Malambruno (Domingo), an evil wizard, in an abandoned library inside Story Castle.
