October 2012 ranked as Disney XD’s #1 most-watched month in Prime in the network’s history (includes its 10 years as Toon Disney) in Boys 6-14 (165,000), Tweens 9-14 (193,000) and Boys 9-14 (117,000), its #2 most-watched month ever in Kids 6-14 (274,000) and Kids 6-11 (213,000), and recorded October-highs in Total Viewers (431,000) and Kids 2-11 (266,000), bolstered by strong performances of original live-action series “Kickin’ It” and “Lab Rats,” Marvel animated series “Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes” and “Ultimate Spider-Man,” along with the series launch of “Crash & Bernstein.”
Also impressive, Disney XD emerged as the month’s year to year growth leader among all kid cable networks in Kids 6-14 (+25% – 274,000 vs. 220,000), Kids 6-11 (+19% – 213,000 vs. 179,000), Tweens 9-14 (+29% – 193,000 vs. 150,000) and Kids 2-11 (+25% – 266,000 vs. 213,000).
- Disney XD has grown or held its Prime audience year to year for 46 consecutive months in Kids 6-11 – the longest streak of its kind among all kid networks – and for 22 consecutive months in Kids 6-14 and Tweens 9-14.
- Disney XD doubled or more than doubled Nicktoons in Kids 6-14 (+136% – 274,000 vs. 116,000), Kids 6-11 (+132% – 213,000 vs. 92,000) and Kids 2-11 (+106% – 266,000 vs. 129,000), nearly doubled in Total Viewers (+95% – 431,000 vs. 221,000) and nearly tripled in Tweens 9-14 (+184% – 193,000 vs. 68,000).
In Total Day, Disney XD posted its most-watched October on record across target demos, including Total Viewers (307,000), Kids 6-14 (179,000), Kids 6-11 (136,000), Tweens 9-14 (126,000) and Kids 2-11 (173,000).
- Year to year, Disney XD grew by considerable margins in key demos including by 13% in Total Viewers (307,000 vs. 272,000), by 17% in Kids 6-14 (179,000 vs. 153,000), by 25% in Tweens 9-14 (126,000 vs. 101,000) and by 14% in Kids 2-11 (173,000 vs. 152,000).
Disney XD is a basic cable channel and multi-platform brand showcasing a compelling mix of live-action and animated programming for Kids age 6-14, hyper-targeting boys and their quest for discovery, accomplishment, sports, adventure and humor. Disney XD branded content spans television, online, mobile and VOD platforms. The programming includes series, movies and short-form, as well as sports-themed programming developed with ESPN. In the U.S., Disney XD is seen on a 24-hour, advertiser supported network that reaches over 78 million households via its basic cable and satellite affiliates.
