Vortexx Adds “Sonic X” Starting October 6
The CW’s Saturday morning Vortexx block (run by Saban Brands) made their first schedule change last week (September 22) by replacing Cubix at 7am with a second Rescue Heroes (which also airs at 7:30am). That makes up the block’s required E/I hour.
Now, starting next Saturday (October 6), Vortexx is adding Sonic X to the block. Sonic X was a long-stay on 4Kids’ blocks (both 4Kids TV and The CW4Kids) and many fans wanted it to return (Vortexx even posted a poll on their site asking fans it they wanted it back – it currently has 75% saying “Yup”).
Sonic X will air at 8am, moving Power Rangers Lost Galaxy to 8:30am. Power Rangers replaces the new episode of Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL at 8:30am, meaning that the 11:30am showing is now the new episode. No other shows are changing timeslots and no current shows are leaving.
Vortexx premiered on August 25 and averaged a 0.8/4 kids 6-11 demo rating and share, up double digits from The CW4Kids’ final week on August 18 (0.4/2). Since then, the block has fallen a bit, averaging 0.5/2 on September 1 and 8, 0.5/3 on September 15 and up to a 0.6/4 last week (Sept. 22). The 9-11am portion of the block (with Iron Man: Armored Adventures, Justice League Unlimited, WWE Saturday Morning Slam and Dragon Ball Z Kai) has been the highest rated portion of the block with the kids demo.
