The Hub and Disney XD Only Networks to Post Yearly Gains With Kids 6-11 in July

The Hub

July wasn’t such a hot month with kids 6-11, the primary demo for many of the networks we cover, as all but two networks were down – The Hub and Disney XD.

The Hub rose 27% year-over-year with the demo to average 28,000 viewers age 6-11. Despite the large increase, that still puts The Hub at the bottom of the list at #10.

Disney XD was the only other top 10 network to post year-over-year gains, with a 7% rise over last year to 204,000 viewers.

Everyone else was down. Nick at Nite’s massive 50% drop and Nickelodeon’s 31% drop were the highest percent decreases on the list. Nicktoons followed with a 25% decrease. TeenNick was next with a 22% drop. Nick Jr. posted the lowest drop of the Viacom networks – down 11%. At least some of the blame can be on the Viacom/DIRECTV blackout, which lasted about 10 days. Though much of it is likely still due to the downward pattern of the Viacom kid nets since last fall.

Disney Channel, which is currently riding high as the #1 network with all kid demos, was still down year-over-year, with a 4% drop. The 842,000 viewers still puts them far ahead of Nick’s second place 553,000. Cartoon Network ranks third with 466,000 followed far behind by Disney XD at the already mentioned 204,000.
