2Q 2012 – Prime
Driven by its fast expanding roster of original series, including live-action series “Pair of Kings,” “Lab Rats” and “Kickin’ It,” along with Marvel’s animated series “Ultimate Spider-Man” and “Avengers: EMH,” 2Q 2012 ranked as Disney XD’s most-watched 2Q in the network’s history in Prime, and 3rd most-watched quarter overall (includes its 10 years as Toon Disney) across the board: Total Viewers (390,000), Kids 6-14 (222,000), Boys 6-14 (140,000), Kids 6-11 (176,000), Boys 6-11 (110,000), Tweens 9-14 (147,000) and Boys 9-14 (95,000).
Moreover, Disney XD closed out 2Q 2012 boasting all time June highs in Prime across all demos, with the month becoming its #2 month in the network’s history in Boys 9-14 (104,000), and its #3 most-watched month ever in Total Viewers (422,000) and Boys 6-14 (154,000).
- Disney XD has grown its Prime audience year to year for an impressive 14 consecutive quarters Kids 6-14, Boys 6-14, Kids 6-11, Tweens 9-14 and Boys 9-14.
- Disney XD held a wide margin of victory over Nicktoons, surpassing the key competitor across all key demos: by 24% in Kids 2-11 (227,000 vs. 183,000), by 46% in Kids 6-14 (222,000 vs. 152,000), by 19% in Boys 6-14 (140,000 vs. 118,000), by 48% in Kids 6-11 (176,000 vs. 119,000), by 21% in Boys 6-11 (110,000 vs. 91,000), by 62% in Tweens 9-14 (147,000 vs. 91,000) and by 36% in Boys 9-14 (95,000 vs. 70,000).
- Year over year, Disney XD posted across-the-board growth, including by double-digit percentages in Total Viewers (+12% – 390,000 vs. 349,000), Kids 6-14 (+10% – 222,000 vs. 201,000), Tweens 9-14 (+14% – 147,000 vs. 129,000) and Boys 9-14 (+12% – 95,000 vs. 85,000).
Programming Highlights:
- The Season 2 finale of “Pair of Kings” (4/16/12, 8:30 – 9:30 p.m.) hit series highs in Boys 2-11 (332,000/1.6 rating), Boys 6-14 (412,000/2.2 rating), Boys 6-11 (304,000/2.4 rating), Tweens 9-14 (538,000/2.2 rating) and Boys 9-14 (339,000/2.8 rating), and was the series’ #2 telecast ever in Kids 2-11 (576,000/1.4 rating), Kids 6-14 (680,000/1.9 rating) and Kids 6-11 (516,000/2.1 rating).
Disney XD is a basic cable channel and multi-platform brand showcasing a compelling mix of live-action and animated programming for Kids age 6-14, hyper-targeting boys and their quest for discovery, accomplishment, sports, adventure and humor. Disney XD branded content spans television, online, mobile and VOD platforms. The programming includes series, movies and short-form, as well as sports-themed programming developed with ESPN. In the U.S., Disney XD is seen on a 24-hour, advertiser supported network that reaches over 78 million households via its basic cable and satellite affiliates.
