Summer TV Schedules Are Now in Full Effect

Summer!

As of today, all the major TV networks that we cover are in full summer schedule mode!

Nickelodeon is moving preschool shows (Mike the Knight, Dora, Team Umizoomi and Bubble Guppies) to the early morning slots of 6-10am. SpongeBob follows with two hours, and then two rotating hour-and-a-half blocks include Fairly OddParents, Kung Fu Panda and T.U.F.F. Puppy until 3pm. More SpongeBob, some iCarly, even more Sponge, VICTORiOUS and then the return of Figure It Out at 7pm. Nick at Nite also makes some changes, but the only major one is the new primetime weeknight drama Hollywood Heights at 9pm – which is starting this week by airing a preview of the first episode over and over and over and over again each night until next Tuesday.

Disney Channel started making some changes last week, but the brunt of the summer schedule starts today. Preschool will run from 6-10am and Phineas and a movie or marathon follow. Good Luck Charlie and Jessie are in the 1pm hour. At 2pm is a two-hour rotating block. Starting at 4pm is single airings of Good Luck Charlie, A.N.T. Farm, Jessie, Wizards of Waverly Place, Phineas and Ferb and another Charlie until 7pm. Evenings can very day to day but mainly feature current top series and a movie. Overnights are getting a change too. The Suite Life on Deck moves into the 1am hour with Good Luck Charlie sliding down to 2am. Wizards of Waverly Place gets an extra hour at 3am and an extra Suite Life on Deck hour at 4am replaces half of the Phineas block, which is still on from 5-6am. Do note that Fish Hooks will air at random times most nights between 2 and 6am, for one airing at a time.

Disney XD also makes summer official today with two new weekday morning shows. First is the Disney XD premiere of Sonic Underground at 10am. Phineas follows at 10:30am. Then it’s the United States premiere of the CGI animated The Jungle Book series at 11am. Ultimate Spider-Man will air Mondays and Fridays at 11:30am with Phineas on Tuesdays-Thursdays. As a result, the 10am hour of Pair of Kings and Wizards will move to 12pm. The two-hour rotating block continues at 1pm followed by Suite Life on Deck at 3pm. Disney’s favorite cartoon Phineas and Ferb will now air at 3:30pm followed by the not changing 4pm hour of Mr. Young and Pair of Kings.  One of the most notable changes they’re making is moving the staple 5pm Disney XD Movie to 6pm (or 6:15pm, depending on the movie’s length). Now in the 5 o’clock hour is oldie Suite Life of Zack & Cody and Kickin’ It. The 5pm movie has been a fixture since way back in the Toon Disney era. Maybe they want the popular movie block to boost primetime, as it’ll lead directly into it every weeknight now? Speaking of which, new Kickin’ It and the second season premiere of Mr. Young are airing tonight at 8 and 9pm, respectfully. The only other notable weekday change is Pair of Kings and Kickin’ It will replace I’m in the Band and Zeke and Luther at 11pm and 12am, respectfully. Zeke will still air on weekends, but this looks like the end of the road for Iron Weasel repeats (for now, at least).

Nicktoons changed somewhat last week with a few more changes taking place today, including the return of Avatar: The Last Airbender to the regular line-up every night but Friday from 10-11pm ET.

Cartoon Network and The Hub’s summer line-ups went into full effect last week. TeenNick changed some things on May 21. Boomerang isn’t making any special summer changes.

As always, all times are Eastern. Check your local listings. And as you’re well aware of, things can change on a dime, so don’t blame me!
