Disney Channel: Total Day and Prime Highlights
During the week of March 5, 2012, Disney Channel delivered a clean sweep in Total Day, ranking as cable TV’s #1 network in Total Viewers (1.559 million) and TV’s #1 network in Kids 2-11 (888,000/2.2 rating), Kids 6-11 (551,000/2.2 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (461,000/1.9 rating). This marked Disney Channel’s 39th consecutive week as TV’s #1 network in Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14 – dating back to week of June 13, 2011 – a personal record for the network. In Kids 2-11, this marked Disney Channel’s 2nd consecutive week at #1 in Kids 2-11 (888,000/2.2 rating), and its 5th time in the previous 6 weeks.
- Disney Channel towered over Nickelodeon by 27% in Kids 6-11 (551,000 vs. 435,000) and by 42% in Tweens 9-14 (461,000 vs. 325,000), representing the network’s 18th consecutive week dominating by double-digit percentages in Kids 6-11, and the 20th consecutive week in Tweens 9-14.
- In Total Viewers, Disney Channel surpassed Nickelodeon by 4% in Total Day (1.559 million vs. 1.494 million), marking its 2nd-biggest competitive advantage ever, behind only the week of 8/13/07, the week global phenomenon “High School Musical 2” premiered.
- In Prime, Disney Channel ranked as cable TV’s #1 network on a weekly basis for the 355th consecutive week in Kids 6-11 (1.1 million/4.3 rating), or nearly 7 years in the key demographic. In Tweens 9-14 (898,000/3.7 rating), the network clinched its 90th straight #1 weekly ranking, and was #1 for the 352nd time in the previous 355 weeks overall.
- Friday’s all-new “Jessie” (8:00 – 8:30 p.m.) ranked as the week’s #1 TV series telecast in Kids 6-11 (1.6 million/6.3 rating) and the #1 live-action series telecast across all TV in Kids 2-11 (1.9 million/4.5 rating), while Sunday’s original “Shake It Up” (8:30 – 9:00 p.m.) was the week’s #1 series TV telecast in Tweens 9-14 (1.3 million/5.5 rating).
