“Wizards” Finale Scores 9.8 Million Viewers; “Jessie” Hits Series High 7.3 Million

Friday’s Wizards of Waverly Place one-hour finale on Disney Channel scored 9.755 million total viewers. Minus the TV movie, this is now a series high in total viewers.

Following the Wizards finale was a new episode of Jessie which scored 7.317 million total viewers – a series high as well.

A new episode of Fish Hooks at 9:30pm scored 4.375 million total viewers, the series’ second highest rated episode in total viewers (the series preview on 9/3/10 scored 4.8 million viewers after Camp Rock 2).

Easily one of the most popular TV series for kids and families since its 2007 launch, Disney Channel original series “Wizards of Waverly Place” (8:00 – 9:00 p.m.) signed off with magical ratings, ranking as the series’ #1 telecast of all time in Total Viewers (9.8 million), Kids 6-11 (4.2 million/17.1 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (3.8 million/15.7 rating), and as Disney Channel’s #1 finale on record.

Dominating Friday’s TV/Cable landscape, the “Wizards” finale became the #1 scripted cable telecast of the 2011/12 season to date in Total Viewers, and TV’s #1 telecast in Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14.

  • The “Wizards” finale propelled Disney Channel to becoming TV’s #1 network from 8:00 – 9:00 p.m. in Total Viewers, surpassing runner-up CBS by an impressive 17% (9.8 million vs. 8.4 million), with Disney Channel ranking a solid #3 in Prime across all TV overall for the night.
  • At 9 o’clock, “Jessie” levied series highs across all demographics, including in Total Viewers (7.6 million), Kids 6-11 (3.5 million/14.3 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (2.9 million/12.3 rating).  Notably, through its first 9 originals, “Jessie” is pacing as the #1 cable series of all time in Tweens 9-14.
  • “Jessie” was TV’s #2 telecast for the day in Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14, and the #2 scripted cable telecast for the day in Total Viewers.
  • At 9:30 p.m., “Fish Hooks” also posted series highs across the board, including in Total Viewers (4.4 million), Kids 611 (2.4 million/9.7 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.7 million/7.1 rating).
