January 17, 2011 | It’s tradition that every time a national holiday allows for kids nationwide to be out of school, television networks schedule special marathons and premieres for the day. Today is no different. Here’s a rundown of the specials, marathons and premieres happening today:
- “Hannah Montana” Ends Today
January 16, 2011 | The final episode of Hannah Montana premieres tonight at 7 p.m. ET/PT on Disney Channel. The one-hour series finale (“Wherever I Go”) forces Miley to choose between going to college with Lilly or accepting a lucrative movie role.
- “Power Rangers Samurai” Premieres Monday, February 7 on Nickelodeon
January 12, 2011 | Nickelodeon, the number-one entertainment brand for kids, introduces a new generation of kids to the legendary Power Rangers franchise with the prime-time premiere of Power Rangers Samurai, on Monday, Feb. 7, at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT). Combining comedy with action-filled storylines, the all-new half-hour series features a new cast of Rangers and never-before-seen villains, as well as high-octane action, martial arts and advanced special effects. From SCG Power Rangers LLC, an affiliate of Saban Brands, the long-running hit kids' TV phenomenon, now heading into its 19th season, is helmed by Haim Saban, who created and produced the original "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" series in 1993. Following the premiere, the show will air regularly Sundays at noon (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon, with encores Saturdays at noon on Nickelodeon and Fridays from 8 to 9 p.m. (ET) on Nicktoons.
- Cartoon Network Ratings Highlights for January 3 – 9, 2011
January 12, 2011 | Across the first week of January 2011, Cartoon Network’s early evening (7-9 p.m.) delivery and ratings increased across its targeted kids 6-11 and 2-11 demos vs. the same time period last year—average kids 6-11 delivery (516,000) grew by 6% and ratings (2.1) by 5%, and kids 2-11 delivery (771,000) grew by 3% and ratings (1.9) by 6%. Versus the previous four weeks, the network charted solid gains as well: kidss 6-11 delivery grew by 8% and ratings by 11%, kids 2-11 delivery grew by 5% and ratings by 6%, and kids 9-14 delivery (363,000) grew by 6% and ratings (1.5) by 7%.
- Disney Channel Ratings Highlights for January 3 – 9, 2011
January 11, 2011 | Delivering the week’s Top 3 TV telecasts and 5 of the Top 7 overall, Disney Channel ranked as TV’s No. 1 network in Total Day for the 6th consecutive week among Tweens 9-14 (496,000/2.0 rating), surpassing No. 2 Nickelodeon by a solid 17% (425,000/1.7 rating), and also placed No. 1 for the week among Kids 6-11 (620,000/2.5 rating).
- Nickelodeon Ratings Highlights for January 3 – 9, 2011
January 11, 2011 | Premieres of Nickelodeon’s hit live-action series Victorious and Big Time Rush helped continue Nick’s top-ranked ratings run in 2011. A new episode of Big Time Rush, “Big Time Guru” (Saturday, Jan. 8, 8 p.m. ET/PT), scored as the number-one program in its time period with all kid and tween demos on broadcast and basic cable, while also taking cable’s top spot with total viewers (3.8 million). Big Time Rush was followed by a new episode of Victorious, “Rex Dies,” (8:30 p.m. ET/PT), which drew 4.2 million total viewers. The episode scored basic cable’s top spot in its time period and also took the top spot in its time period with all kid and tween demos.

- Keke Palmer Will Star in “Ragz” and “Winx Club” on Nickelodeon
January 11, 2011 | Keke Palmer, star of Nickelodeon’s True Jackson, VP, will be starring in and producing Ragz, a music-oriented Nickelodeon teen movie, scheduled for a 2012 premiere.
- Disney Channel Original Movie “Lemonade Mouth” Premieres March 25
January 10, 2011 | Themes of believing in yourself, following your dreams, celebrating family and staying true to yourself are explored in the triumphant, music-driven "Lemonade Mouth," a Disney Channel Original Movie based on the book of the same name, set to premiere FRIDAY, MARCH 25 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel. The announcement was made today by Gary Marsh, president, Entertainment, and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide. The movie joins the powerhouse franchise that has delivered cable TV's No. 1 original movie telecast in Total Viewers for the past four years and TV's No. 1 original movie among Tweens 9-14 for the past nine years.
- Disney Junior Launches February 14 With Premiere of “Jake and the Never Land Pirates”
January 10, 2011 | Disney Junior, a new multiplatform destination for kids age 2-7, one that reflects the emotional connection generations of consumers have to Disney storytelling and Disney characters, both classic and contemporary, will debut Monday, February 14 (8:30 a.m., ET/PT), anchored by the new animated series “Jake and the Never Land Pirates.” Five other new series also join the Disney Junior schedule: the short form titles “Mickey Mousekersize,” “Special Agent Oso: Three Healthy Steps” (supporting Disney’s Magic of Healthy Living initiative) and “A Poem Is…” (narrated by Jennifer Garner and Katie Holmes, among other familiar voices), and full length series “Babar and the Adventures of Badou” and “Tinga Tinga Tales.” Viewers’ current favorites, “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse,” “Handy Manny,” “Special Agent Oso,” “Jungle Junction” and “Imagination Movers,” will also be seen on Disney Junior.
