The historic success was powered by Disney Channel's most expansive lineup of original programming for kids and families yet -- notably the #1 TV series in target kids and tweens with "A.N.T. Farm" and "Shake It Up," the #1 animated series with "Phineas and Ferb," the Top 2 TV/Cable movies with "Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension" and "Good Luck Charlie: It’s Christmas," and newcomers "Jessie" and "Austin & Ally."

December 14, 2011 | In its first year, Disney Junior, the daily programming block for kids age 2-7 on Disney Channel, posted the network’s biggest yearly audience in the daypart in Total Viewers (1.3 million), Kids 2-5 (450,000/2.7 rating), Boys 2-5 (251,000/2.9 rating), Girls 2-5 (199,000/2.9 rating) and Women 18-49 (254,000/0.4 rating), increasing by double-digit percent margins among preschooler demographics over year-ago levels. Its launch series “Jake and the Never Land Pirates” sailed to hit status, ranking as cable TV’s #1 series of the year among Boys 2-5 while viewer favorite “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” delivered the year’s #1 cable telecast among Kids 2-5 and Boys 2-5.

- Animated Preschool Series “Octonauts” Joins Disney Channel in January
December 14, 2011 | "Octonauts," the BAFTA-nominated animated show for preschoolers, based on the popular children's book series of the same name, will make its U.S. debut MONDAY, JANUARY 9 (11:30 a.m., ET/PT) on Disney Junior, the daily programming block for kids age 2-7, on Disney Channel. Created by award-winning design team Vicki Wong and Michael Murphy of Meomi Design, the series follows the lively underwater adventures of Captain Barnacles Bear, Lieutenant Kwazii Cat and Medic Peso Penguin, as they explore the ocean and work to protect all of its unique sea creatures. Produced by Silvergate Media with animation by Academy Award-nominated Brown Bag Films, the animated series made its initial debut in the UK in October 2010.

December 13, 2011 | During the week of December 5, Disney Channel swept Total Day for the 4th consecutive week across target demos, ranking as TV’s No. 1 network in Kids 6-11 (594,000/2.4 rating), Boys 6-11 (263,000/2.1 rating), Girls 6-11 (331,000/2.8 rating), Tweens 9-14 (480,000/2.0 rating) and Girls 9-14 (293,000/2.5 rating). Impressively, in Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14, Disney Channel has been TV’s No. 1 network on a total day basis for a record-setting 26 straight weeks.

December 12, 2011 | The hit Disney XD comedy series "Pair of Kings" will resume production for a third season and popular actor Adam Hicks (Disney XD's "Zeke and Luther," Disney Channel's "Lemonade Mouth") will join the cast as a new character, a long lost brother, added to the story of the unusual island of Kinkow, it was announced today by Adam Bonnett, Senior Vice President, Original Series, Disney Channels Worldwide. "Pair of Kings" will continue without the character Brady played by Mitchel Musso. The actor, singer/songwriter will continue his role as the voice of Jeremy Johnson in Disney's Emmy Award-winning series "Phineas and Ferb."

December 12, 2011 | Disney will introduce a little girl princess to its celebrated legacy of princess fairytales in an animated television movie and series, "Sofia the First," premiering in fall 2012 and spring 2013 respectively, on Disney Channel and Disney Junior channels around the world. While Disney princess fairytales have been enchanting audiences for more than 70 years, this is the first time a series has centered on a princess as a little girl. The stories are designed to communicate positive messages and life lessons that are applicable to preschool-aged children. The series and movie are productions of Disney Television Animation.
