Disney Channel’s “Make Your Mark” Scored Over 4 Million Viewers Both Friday & Sunday

Disney Channel’s “Make Your Mark: ‘Shake It Up’” is a Rousing Success; Friday and Sunday Telecasts Each Deliver Over 4 Million Total Viewers
Disney Channel’s dance competition telecasts, “Make Your Mark: ‘Shake It Up’ Edition,” stepped up with big viewing audiences — 4.2 million Total Viewers on Friday (8:30- 9:58 p.m.) and 4 million on Sunday (8:30-9:00 p.m.). Both telecasts popped and locked as TV’s #1 telecast in their time periods among Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14 on both nights (2.0 million/8.3 rating on Friday and 2.2 million/8.8 rating on Sunday among Kids 6-11; 1.6 million/6.5 rating on Friday and 1.8 million/7.6 rating on Sunday among Tweens 9-14). A dance group from Arizona, AKsquared, won the competition, as determined by viewers’ votes. The group of four girls age 10-14 will appear on an upcoming episode of “Shake It Up.”
Led by “Make Your Mark” and an all-new “Jessie,” Disney Channel had Friday’s Top 12 TV telecasts among Kids 6-11 and the Top 21 telecasts among Tweens 9-14. In Total Viewers, Disney Channel delivered the Top 3 scripted cable telecasts.
More than 30,000 dance videos were submitted online, resulting in more than 42 million video starts since early summer 2011.
The telecasts were hosted by Debby Ryan (“Jessie”), Roshon Fegan and
R. Brandon Johnson (both of “Shake It Up”), with special guest appearances by Bella Thorne and Zendaya (both of “Shake It Up”) on Friday and Sunday, and a musical performance by China Anne McClain (“A.N.T. Farm”) on Sunday.
The judges were Selena Gomez (“Wizards of Waverly Place”), recording artist Sean Kingston and choreographer Rosero McCoy (“Shake It Up”). Special appearances were made by choreographers Nick Florez, Fatima Robinson, Gil Duldulao, Jamaica Craft, Ivan Koumaev and Marty Kudelka. Videotaped appearances were made by Janet Jackson, Katy Perry, Will.i.am, Ne-Yo, Joe Jonas and Jason Derulo.
