Nickelodeon Closes Week as Top Cable Net

NEW YORK–June 7, 2011–Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants drew 5 million total viewers with a Saturday morning premiere(June 4, 10 a.m. ET/PT), which ranks as basic cable’s top animated series telecast with total viewers and the number-one telecast with kids 2-11 for the week. The half-hour long new episode “Squidward’s School for Grown Ups”, averaged an 8.2/3.0 K2-11, 8.4/1.8 million K6-11, and 5.3/1.1 million T9-14.

Nickelodeon also closed the week (5/30/11-6/5/11 as the number-one total day cable net with total viewers (2.2 million), kids 2-11 (1.2 million), kids 6-11 (728,000), and kids 2-5 (493,000). Nick also bested its closest competitor by double-digits with total viewers (+26%), kids 2-11 (+21%), kids 6-11 (+13%) and kids 2-5 (+42%).

Nickelodeon’s preschool programming block (Mon-Fri 7 a.m.-10 a.m. ET/PT) also boasts the top six preschool telecasts for the week, with Bubble Guppies ranking as week’s number-one preschool series telecast.
