NEW YORK, May 4, 2011 — The T.J. Martell Foundation is proud to announce that it will celebrate its 12th Annual Family Day on Sunday, June 5th, 2011 from 12-4 p.m. at Roseland Ballroom in New York City. Family Day provides a spectacular day full of fun games, carnival activities and live performances to raise money for leukemia, cancer and AIDS research.  Family Day has steadily grown into one of the Martell Foundation’s most successful events and has raised over $3.5 million since its inception.  Last year’s sold out event honored global superstars, the Jonas Brothers, and raised over three quarters of a million dollars for Martell funded research at eleven research hospitals across the country.

This year’s Family Day will honor Big Time Rush for their tremendous support of numerous charitable causes and their management team, Ozone Entertainment. Big Time Rush are stars of the hit Nickelodeon TV series of the same name and have a top selling self-titled CD on Columbia Records. Supporting Big Time Rush will be special guests We The Kings, Allstar Weekend and The Ready Set. Family Day will also host a silent auction that will feature amazing, one-of-a-kind celebrity auction items including two VIP tickets and backstage passes to the U2 concert at Vanderbilt Stadium in Nashville, TN on July 2nd, 2011.

Over the years, Family Day has brought together a “who’s who” of music and entertainment executives along with music artists and celebrities including John Mayer, Rob Thomas, Jay-Z, Jordan Sparks and Jesse McCartney.

According to Family Day Chairman Marcus Peterzell, “Big Time Rush has made it their mission to always give back to their community and fans by donating their time to so many worthy causes. We are thrilled to be able to honor them at this year’s Family Day event and help us fund the T.J. Martell Foundation research programs across the country.”

Tony Martell, Founder and Chairman of the Martell Foundation, adds, “Of all the fundraising endeavors of our Foundation, Family Day is one of the most pleasant of them all. Having Big Time Rush as our honorees this year makes Family Day one of the Martell Foundation’s most stellar events of the year! These young men really care about helping people less fortunate – they are really ‘young humanitarians.'”
