Bubble Guppies Scores Month’s Number-One Preschool Series Telecast
NEW YORK–April 26, 2011–Nickelodeon continued its 2011 winning streak, closing April as basic cable’s number-one total day network with total viewers (2.2 million), kids 2-11 (3.4/1.2 million), and kids 6-11 (2.9/626,000). The nets monthly win was fueled by strong performances by iCarly, which scored basic cable’s top entertainment telecast with total viewers (8.8 million) with “iOMG” (Saturday, April 9, 8 p.m. ET/PT), and the newest addition to the net’s hit preschool roster Bubble Guppies, which continues to top as the number-one preschool series on all TV. iCarly also ranks as basic cable’s top entertainment program with total viewers and the month’s top series on broadcast and basic cable with kids 2-11, kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14.
The network also closed the month with five of the top ten programs with kids 2-11 (#1 iCarly, #2 SpongeBob SquarePants, #4 T.U.F.F. Puppy, #6 BrainSurge, #10 Victorious) and five of the top ten programs with kids 6-11 (#1 iCarly, #3 SpongeBob SquarePants, #4 BrainSurge, #5 Supah Ninjas, #7 T.U.F.F. Puppy). For the month, Nickelodeon’s preschool programming block (Mon-Fri 9 a.m.-2 p.m. ET/PT) bested its closest competitor by double-digits with kids 2-5 (+29%) and total viewers (+31%), and boasts three of the top five preschool telecasts for the month (#1 Bubble Guppies, #3 Dora the Explorer and #5 Team Umizoomi).
Nickelodeon’s Victorious and Big Time Rush also ended the month on a high note with new episodes premiering during the net’s special Earth Day primetime programming (Friday, April 22, 8-9 p.m., ET/PT). Victorious “Ice Cream for Ke$ha” (8 p.m.) drew 4 million total viewers and scored the week’s (4/1811-4/24/11) top telecast with kids 6-11 (8.4/1.8 million) and tweens 9-14 (7.5/1.6 million). Big Time Rush “Green Time Rush” (8:30 p.m.) was the number two telecast for the week with kids 6-11 (7.5/1.6 million) and tweens 9-14 (6.8/1.5 million) and averaged 3.5 million total viewers.
Nickelodeon’s digital nets also closed the month with big wins. Nick Jr. posted double-digit increases and netted its best April ever with kids 2-5 (+11%). Nicktoons also scored its best April ever with its key boys 6-11 demo (+17%).
