Regarding his guest role as Rock Callahan, a steely movie star and Kick’s idol, Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard said: “Rock Callahan is Kick Buttowski’s super hero. The character even took some of my characteristics — the big shoulders, the little soul patch and little mustache. It’s like we were meant for each other.”
The comedy series has attracted several other notable guest stars for its second season, including: professional skateboarder Tony Hawk as Hush, the sarcastic manager of Skidzeez skate and bike shop; Ed O’Neill (“Modern Family”) as Kick’s grandfather and a former military spy; Will Forte (“Saturday Night Live”) as Kick’s longtime rival, Gordon “Gordie” Gibble, a spoiled kid from West Mellowbrook; Rico Rodriguez (“Modern Family”) as intimidating score settler Luigi Vendetta; Debbie Reynolds (“Singin’ in the Rain”) as sweet old lady Mary Van Der Death, who lives in a creepy mansion overlooking Mellowbrook; and “SportsCenter” anchor Jay Harris as charismatic and quick-witted Brick Bristol, host of TV’s unbeatable game show Faceplant!.
On Tuesday, April 5, DisneyXD.com will launch a new game, “Kick Buttowski: Wreckreation Rift Demolition Derby,” where players help Kick protect his vehicle, while simultaneously demolishing other vehicles in order to be the last kart standing. On Saturday, April 9, kids can customize the Disney XD logo with a selection of Kick Buttowski graphics, colors and backgrounds; some of the logos may be selected to appear on air.
DisneyXD.com‘s popular game “Loco Launcho” for the series spawned the release of the “Kick Buttowski: Loco Launcho” app for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Since its launch on the App Store in February 2011, the game has become an instant hit, ranking in the top ten among all free apps and scoring 1.7 million downloads to date. In support of the new season, the high energy game will add all-new levels, allowing players to help Kick reach new heights, perform extreme stunts and achieve the ultimate daredevil jump.
In the Season Two premiere, “Mow Money,” Kick and Gunther are pitted against each other in a grass cutting competition to buy the last remaining ticket to see Rock Callahan (voiced by Dwight Howard) live onstage in Mellowbrook. In “Love Stinks!,” when Brad gets a girlfriend, Kelly (voiced by Emmanuelle Chriqui), Kick is overjoyed with his brother’s nicer persona and time away from the cul-de-sac. But when Kick discovers that Kelly is using Brad for her cheerleading initiation, Kick must decide between sparing his brother from public humiliation or relishing his Brad-free life.
