NEW YORK, March 1, 2011 – Liar! Liar! Pants on fire! Most people lie at one time or another, but according to recent research, the most deceitful age is 12. Nick News with Linda Ellerbee asked kids what they lied about, then kids went online to rank their lies in the half-hour special, “Lies We Tell in Middle School,” premiering Sunday, March 6, at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon. The show features these most memorable tall tales from kids and celebrities Owen Wilson (Marley & Me), Donald Faison (Scrubs), Jeff Foxworthy (Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?), Guy Fieri (Minute To Win It), Victoria Justice (Victorious), Kendall, James, Carlos and Logan (Big Time Rush), Rosie Perez (White Men Can’t Jump) and Niecy Nash (Clean House).
“There are some funny stories in this show and some brave ones,” said Ellerbee. “Some of these kids are going on camera and revealing lies they’ve told their parents and friends — who may not have known until that moment that they’d been lied to. I imagine some interesting conversations will follow.”
Here are some of the instances where kids lie: To make myself look good to others. About dating (or not dating). To get out of stuff. About homework and grades. To protect others, such as my friends or siblings. To get out of trouble.
Can you guess which is the most common category in which kids say they lie?
