Cartoon Network Enterprises and Rubies Costumes Partner for First-Ever Generator Rex Halloween Costumes
Debuting for Halloween 2011, Line from Rubies Costumes Features Popular Characters from Cartoon Network’s Newest Hit Action-Adventure Series
Cartoon Network Enterprises (CNE), the licensing and merchandising arm of Cartoon Network, today announced a partnership with Rubies Costumes for its smash-hit action-adventure series, Generator Rex. The Generator Rex costume line will feature kids costumes based on hit characters from the top-rated Cartoon Network original series. Fans of the series can enjoy the ultimate role play experience, as they dress up as Rex or his evil counterpart Van Kleiss and reenact favorite moments from the series. The costumes will debut at all tiers of retail in time for Halloween 2011.
“As a top action-adventure series, a key component of the success of Generator Rex has been the likeability and aspirational qualities of its main characters, and that gives us a great opportunity as we continue to build the consumer products program for the brand,” said Christina Miller, senior vice president, CNE. “Rubies has done a terrific job creating costumes based on Rex and Van Kleiss that will give young trick-or-treaters the chance to dress up as their favorite young hero or villain and really bring Rex’s world to life this Halloween.”
The newest action-adventure original series from Cartoon Network, Generator Rex is created by Man of Action (creators of the Ben 10 franchise) and produced at Cartoon Network Studios in Burbank, CA. The series follows Rex, a 15-year-old typical teenager with abnormal powers – including the ability to make his fists the size of boulders, sprout a jet pack out of his back and turn his legs into a lightning-fast motorcycle, among other talents – as he uses his superhuman abilities to help fight fight mutant creatures known as E.V.O.s (Exponentially Variegated Organism). In the U.S., new episodes from the series debut on Cartoon Network on Fridays at 8:30 p.m. (ET/PT), with replays on Saturday mornings, and the network has committed to at least 40 episodes of the series.
