10-Time NFL Pro Bowler Tony Gonzalez to Appear in Cartoon Network’s My Dad’s A Pro
Second Season of Short-Form Series Debuts Tonight
As previously announced by Cartoon Network and the NFL, 10-time NFL Pro Bowler and Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez and his 8-year-old son Nikko will appear in the second season of the short-form series, My Dad’s A Pro. Each of the two-and-a-half minute episodes will premiere every weeknight this week beginning tonight at 6:58 p.m. (ET/PT). In each episode, fans will get a glimpse of what everyday life is like for Nikko during both the NFL season and the off-season. Whether he and his dad are at a big game, at the Falcons training facility learning how to block, at the beach taking surfing lessons or at home hanging out in his backyard, Nikko provides an inside look at what life is like with a pro dad.
Gonzalez, a 10-time NFL Pro Bowl selection, currently holds the NFL records for single season receptions by a tight end, career touchdowns by a tight end, career receptions by a tight end, and reception yards by a tight end. This season, he also caught his 1,000th pass. Gonzalez entered the NFL in 1997 when he was drafted to the Kansas City Chiefs. In 2009, he was traded to the Atlanta Falcons and subsequently became the 21st player in NFL history with 11,000 receiving yards.
In addition to his on-field accolades, Gonzalez continues to make a difference off the field. In 1998, he established the Tony Gonzalez Foundation to serve as a positive force in the lives of individuals in need, no matter their age, financial status, ethnic background, physical abilities or limitations. The foundation continues to benefit such organizations as the Shadow Buddies Foundation and The Boys and Girls Club.
My Dad’s A Pro had its successful first season run in 2009 and featured NBA Champion Boston Celtics guard Eddie House and his son Jaelen. The live-action series follows a professional athlete’s son and his father, offering a unique perspective on what day-to-day life is like with a father in professional sports.
My Dad’s A Pro, featuring Tony Gonzalez and his son Nikko, is part of Cartoon Network’s ongoing relationship with the NFL. For the second year in a row, Cartoon Network has joined forces with the NFL as the exclusive youth promotional partner for the NFL Play 60 Super Bowl Contest. Also, as a part of NFL Draft week, Cartoon Network took part in this year’s NFL Play 60 Youth Football Festival in New York’s Central Park in April, where Gonzalez also appeared.
My Dad’s A Pro is being produced for Cartoon Network by Left/Right.
