New York Times: “Power Rangers” Was Going to The Hub?; More on “House of Anubis”
The New York Times has posted a lengthy article on Nickelodeon. Highlights of the article include:
- When Haim Saban reacquired Power Rangers from Disney in May, he led them to believe that the series was headed for the new kids network The Hub. After it was sold to him, he went straight to Nickelodeon. Cyma Zarghami, President of Nickelodeon, was quick to accept his offer. The 700-episode series as well as the new season Power Rangers Samurai are coming to Nickelodeon and Nicktoons in early-2011.
- Nick’s new live-action series House of Anubis is coming in early-2011 and will have new episodes every day, instead of one a week.
- With Power Rangers as a main example, Nickelodeon has loosened its policy on acquiring shows that they don’t own themselves to broadcast and support with Nickelodeon’s powerful marketing.
