Cartoon Network Ratings Highlights for October 11 – 17, 2010

Buoyed by the outstanding movie premiere performance of SCOOBY-DOO! CURSE OF THE LAKE MONSTER (Saturday, 7-9 p.m.), Cartoon Network’s overall weekly prime time performance earned significant double-digit gains across all kids demos compared to last year’s time period: average kids 6-11 delivery (654,000) increased by 30% and ratings (2.6) by 24%; kids 2-11 delivery (933,000) increased by 29% and ratings (2.2) by 22%; and kids 9-14 delivery (474,000) and ratings (1.9) both increased by 19%.

Similarly, Cartoon Network’s total day performance also grew substantially compared to the 2009 time period: average kids 6-11 delivery (429,000) improved by 15% and ratings (1.7) by 13%; kids 2-11 delivery (670,000) improved by 12% and ratings (1.6) by 7%; and kids 9-14 delivery (296,000) improved by 7% and ratings (1.2) by 9%.

Cartoon Network’s stand-out programming event of the week—broadcast television’s and ad-supported basic cable’s #1 show on Saturday, Oct. 16 among kids 6-11, 2-11 and 9-14—was the world television premiere of SCOOBY-DOO! CURSE OF THE LAKE MONSTER (7-9 p.m.), which garnered triple-digit delivery and ratings gains across every kids, boys and girls demo vs. the same time period last year.  In summary, kids 6-11 delivery (1,863,000) expanded by 265%; kids 2-11 delivery (2,729,000) expanded by 266%; and kids 9-14 delivery (1,337,000) expanded by 241%.  Boys and girls delivery/ratings demos between the ages of 2-11, 6-11 and 9-14 also grew by triple digits, ranging between 200% and 330%.

Cartoon Network’s Monday night presentation of ADVENTURE TIME (8 p.m.) continued to anchor the evening comedy-animation line-up, earning solid gains vs. 2009—kids 6-11 delivery (793,000) increased by 17% and kids 2-11 delivery (1,113,000) increased by 16%. Even more impressively, boys 6-11 delivery (607,000) improved by 70%, boys 2-11 delivery (796,000) improved by 64% and boys 9-14 delivery (416,000) improved by 23%.

Earning triple-digit delivery growth across most kids demo, TOTAL DRAMA WORLD TOUR (Monday, 9 p.m.) also proved its growing performance on Monday.

Compared to last year’s time period, kids 6-11 delivery (703,000) improved by 91%; kids 2-11 delivery (986,000) improved by 108%, kids 9-14 delivery (631,000) improved by 102%, boys 6-11 delivery (490,000) improved by 171%, boys 2-11 delivery (657,000) improved by 199% and boys 9-14 delivery (424,000) improved by 165%.

Brand new episodes of Cartoon Network live-action alternative programming also earned audience approval on Wednesday Night.  HOLE IN THE WALL (8 p.m.) scored double digit delivery and ratings gains among older kids: kids 6-11 delivery (802,000) expanded by 12% and ratings (3.2) by 10%, and kids 9-14 delivery (567,000) expanded by 29% and ratings (2.3) by 28%.  Immediately following, DUDE, WHAT WOULD HAPPEN (8:30 p.m.) charted even larger gains—kids 6-11 delivery (755,000) expanded by 25% and ratings (3.1) by 24%, and kids 9-14 delivery (556,000) expanded by 27% and ratings (2.3) by 28%.  Finally, DESTROY BUILD DESTROY (8:30 p.m.) closed the live-action block with stronger growth yet—kids 6-11 delivery (801,000) expanded by 29% and ratings (3.2) by 28%, and kids 9-14 delivery (573,000) and ratings (2.4) both expanded by 33%.

Backed by such popular action-adventure animated programming as Batman: The Brave & The Bold (7 p.m.), Ben 10: Ultimate Alien (7:30 p.m.) and Generator Rex (8:30 p.m.), Cartoon Network’s overall Friday night proved a hit among kids demos.  Compared to the previous year’s time period, overall kids 6-11 delivery (635,000) grew by 23% and ratings (2.6) by 24%, and kids 2-11 delivery (958,000) and ratings (2.3) both grew by 28%.  Boys demos proved even better, with gains ranging from 35% to 42%.

Capping off Friday night, a new Season 3 episode of STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS (9 p.m.) earned solid gains among all kids demos.  Versus the previous year’s timeslot, kids 6-11 delivery (609,000) grew by 52%, kids 2-11 delivery (822,000) grew by 41%, and kids 9-14 delivery (577,000) grew by 65%.

BEN 10: ULTIMATE ALIEN (Friday, 7:30 p.m.), the latest series in the Ben 10 franchise, also earned remarkable growth compared to the previous year’s numbers.  Kids 6-11 delivery (764,000) increased by 82%, kids 2-11 delivery (1,233,000) increased by 86%, and kids 9-14 delivery (473,000) increased by 30%.
