Across the second week of June 2010, Cartoon Network posted significant total day delivery gains among key kids demos vs. the prior four week average, according to preliminary data from Nielsen Media Research. Across the week, total day delivery among kids 6-11 (405,000) grew by 25%, kids 2-11 delivery (617,000) grew by 18% and kids 9-14 delivery (298,000) grew by 26%. Prime time delivery for the week also showed growth among all kids demos, with average kids 6-11 delivery (496,000) improving by 6%, kids 2-11 delivery (703,000) improving by 1% and kids 9-14 delivery (352,000) improving by 4%.
Compared to the same time period last year, Sunday’s total day delivery performance, which included the premiere of Unnatural History (8 p.m.) also earned double-digit gains across all key kids demos—kids 6-11 average delivery (416,000) increased by 15%, kids 2-11 delivery (599,000) increased by 11%, and kids 9-14 delivery (317,000) grew by 12%. Unnatural History itself earned both delivery (334,000) and ratings (2.7) gains among boys 6-11 vs. the prior four weeks. The live-action scripted mystery series also broadened the network’s reach with kids 9-14, earning 31% delivery growth among kids 9-14 and 51% delivery growth among boys 9-14.
Monday night’s presentation of the hit animated series Adventure Time (8 p.m.) continued to earn powerful double-digit delivery gains among all kids demos. Compared to the 2009 time period, kids 6-11 delivery (815,000) grew by 46%, kids 2-11 delivery (1,076,000) grew by 27% and kids 9-14 delivery (576,000) grew by 59%. Similarly, boys 6-11 delivery (556,000) grew by 38%, boys 2-11 delivery (717,000) grew by 21% and boys 9-14 delivery (435,000) grew by 72%.
Friday night’s animated action-adventure line-up of original series also propelled across-the-board growth 7 – 10 p.m. among key kids demos. Ben 10: Ultimate Alien (8 p.m.) charted 30% delivery increases among kids 6-11 (535,000) and 64% delivery increases among kids 2-11 (837,000). Boys 6-11 delivery (452,000) grew by 25% and boys 2-11 delivery (644,000) grew by 49%. Generator Rex (8:30 p.m.) also charted significant gains, with kids 6-11 delivery (569,000) improving by 18% and kids 2-11 delivery (797,000) improving by 19%. Likewise, boys 6-11 delivery (493,000) increased by 26% and boys 2-11 delivery (653,000) improved by 20%.
