CARTOON NETWORK – May 2010 Monthly Performance

  • Compared to May 2009, Cartoon Network earned solid double-digit prime time ratings and delivery gains across May 2010, between 11%-20%.  Overall, monthly kids 6-11 ratings (2.0) increased by 11% and delivery (493,000) by 14%, kids 2-11 ratings (1.8) increased by 20% and delivery (740,000) increased by 19%, and kids 9-14 ratings (1.5) increased by 15% and delivery (354,000) increased by 12%.  In Total Day, Cartoon Network improved ratings and delivery with kids 6-11, with average delivery (314,000) ahead by 5% and ratings (1.3) by 8%.  Kids 2-11 also saw ratings and delivery gains, with average delivery (518,000) ahead by 10% and ratings (1.3) by 8%.
  • In May 2010, Cartoon Network was the #1 destination for boys 6-11 and boys 2-11 on Monday nights in prime time across all television. Compared to May 2009, Cartoon Network posted double-digit delivery gains with all key kids’ demos in Monday prime time, with kids 6-11 (551,000) up by 30%, kids 2-11 (809,000) by 32% and kids 9-14(408,000) by 20%.  Delivery among boys charted double-digit gains, with boys 6-11(286,000) improving by 41%, boys 2-11 (561,000) by 40% and boys 9-14 (297,000) by 33%.
  • Monday night’s growth was driven by the network’s newest original animated comedy hit ADVENTURE TIME (8 p.m.) which earned dramatic delivery and ratings gains vs. the 2009 time period last year.  Across the month, kids 6-11 delivery (878,000) increased by 104% and ratings (3.6) by 100%, kids 2-11 delivery (1,189,000) improved by 91% and ratings (2.9) by 93%, and kids 9-14 delivery (611,000) improved by 96% and ratings (2.5) by 92%.
  • On Friday night, Cartoon Network’s action-adventure line-up saw solid double-digit ratings and delivery gains across all key demos.  Across the three-hour block throughout May 2010 compared to last year, kids 6-11 average delivery (611,000) grew by 33% and ratings (2.5) by 32%, kids 2-11 delivery (889,000) grew by 34% and ratings (2.2) by 38%, and kids 9-14 delivery (467,000) grew by 37% and ratings (1.9) by 36%.
  • The Cartoon Network original series Ben 10: Ultimate Alien (8 p.m.)  and Generator Rex (8:30 p.m.) account for Friday night’s success, each showing notable deliver gains across all key kids’ demos.  For Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, kids 6-11 delivery (683,000) rose by 42%, kids 2-11 (1,013,000) by 50% and kids 9-14(533,000) by 55%.  Generator Rex also saw growth, with kids 6-11 (702,000) increasing by 20%, kids 2-11 (998,000) by 22% and kids 9-14 (560,000) by 29%.
