Nickelodeon’s 23rd Annual Kids’ Choice Awards Airs Live, Saturday, March 27, with Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Chris Rock, Jackie Chan, Robert Downey Jr., Jonah Hill, Katy Perry, Victoria Justice, Queen Latifah, David Spade, Lea Michele, Dev Patel, Miranda Cosgrove, Shaun White, Big Time Rush, Keke Palmer, Fred Figglehorn, Apolo Anton Ohno and John Cena
Los Angeles, Calif. – Mar. 23, 2010 – A slate of Hollywood’s biggest stars from movies, music, television and sports will join host Kevin James (Paul Blart: Mall Cop, The King of Queens and the upcoming films Zookeeper and Grown Ups) to present at Nickelodeon’s 23rd Annual Kids’ Choice Awards, telecast live from UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion on Saturday, March 27, at 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT). The must-see event of the year for kids will feature Steve Carell (Date Night, The Office), Tina Fey (Date Night, 30 Rock), singer Katy Perry, Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man 2), David Spade (Grown Ups), internet sensation Fred Figglehorn, Cory Monteith (Glee), Miranda Cosgrove (iCarly), Keke Palmer (True Jackson, VP), Lea Michele (Glee), Chris Rock (Grown Ups), Jackson Rathbone (The Twilight Saga, The Last Airbender), Jaden Smith (The Karate Kid), Jonah Hill (Get Him To The Greek), Nicola Peltz (The Last Airbender), Queen Latifah (Valentine’s Day), Nickelodeon’s Big Time Rush, Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire The Last Airbender), Lily Collins (The Blind Side), Jackie Chan (Rush Hour 3), Olympic gold medalist Shaun White, Victoria Justice (Victorious) and George Lopez (The George Lopez Show) among others as presenters for this year’s annual kudos/mess-fest.
In addition, Olympic speed skating champion and eight-time medalist Apolo Anton Ohno will attempt to set a new world for being catapulted into slime via the Kids’ Choice Awards Slime Slingshot, with the help of WWE superstar John Cena, who will call the shots as Ohno attempts the impossible.
“Each year Kids’ Choice is packed with non-stop surprise and entertainment for kids of every age and we think this year, with host Kevin James leading the charge, will be funnier than ever,” said Marjorie Cohn, Executive Vice President, Development and Original Programming. “Add a few hundred of gallons of slime into the mix and the only thing you can expect is the unexpected.”
International superstar Rihanna and teen pop sensation Justin Bieber will join the star-studded lineup to perform at the show. Nickelodeon’s “All Access Sweepstakes with Justin Bieber” contest, which kicked off March 10, received a record-breaking 500,000 entries for the once-in-a lifetime opportunity to be Bieber’s special guest to the slime-filled event. Thirteen-year-old Megan Call of Guilford, Conn., was the lucky winner and will be flown to Los Angeles later this week to meet Bieber, attend his pre-show rehearsal, walk with him down the Orange Carpet and attend the Awards.
Additionally, Lily Collins and Jeff Sutphen (Brainsurge) will host the “Countdown to Kids’ Choice!” live pre-show telecast from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT), which will include iCarly star Miranda Cosgrove’s first-ever performance of her new single “Kissin U.” Nominees, presenters, performers and celebrity guests will be interviewed by Collins and Sutphen at multiple points along the famed Orange Carpet, and cameras in the KCA cyber lounge will capture stars tweeting and texting about their arrival and show experiences. True Jackson VP stars Ashley Argota and Matt Shively will also host a webcast portion of “Countdown to Kids’ Choice!” beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Nick.com.
Nickelodeon’s 2009 Kids’ Choice Awards was the highest rated to date, shattering all previous records with kids, tweens and total viewers. Almost 8 million total viewers tuned in for the show, with a record-breaking 91 million votes cast across Nick’s digital platforms, leading Nick.com to its highest trafficked day ever in visits, uniques and page views.
Kids can currently cast their vote online at http://www.nick.com/kca10 in a total of 19 categories. Surprise awards also will be announced during the show. Kids also will be able to vote via the Nick mobile website (wap.nick.com) and through a KCA iPhone app.
The U.S. Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards is broadcast in more than 300 million households across Nickelodeon’s international channels. For the first time ever, the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards will be simulcast on Nickelodeon in Canada, and special localized versions of the show will also be created and aired across Europe. Fans in multiple markets will have the opportunity to vote online for their favorite local stars in region-specific categories.
Nickelodeon’s 23rd Annual Kids’ Choice Awards is being produced by Nickelodeon Productions in association with Bob Bain Productions.
