Boomerang Hosts the Ultimate Crossover Event with the New Scooby-Doo Movies

10-Movie Marathon on Monday, Jan 18 Brings a Multitude of Celebrity Guest Stars

The New Scooby-Doo Movies, the second series in the Scooby-Doo canon and the only Scooby series with hour-long episodes, welcomed some of the biggest stars of the day as guests during its 24-episode run from 1972-74. Starting at noon on Monday, Jan. 18, Boomerang will present 10 of the best New Scooby-Doo Movies during a seven-and-a-half hour marathon on the commercial-free network. Viewers can enjoy a blast to the past as Scooby and the gang meet celebrities like Sonny and Cher in animated form, as well as the casts of other great Hanna-Barbera cartoons such as Josie and the Pussycats and The Harlem Globetrotters during special crossover episodes.

“Scooby-Doo is a timeless character, appealing to all generations,” said Stacy Isenhower, senior vice president of programming and scheduling for Boomerang and Cartoon Network. “With the New Scooby-Doo Movies, viewers have the chance to get reacquainted with Scooby’s famous friends.”

Highlights of the marathon include:

  • 12 p.m. “The Secret of Shark Island” – When Sonny and Cher’s ritzy jalopy maroons the couple during a storm, the gang gives them a ride in the Mystery Machine and take the couple to the Hideaway Hotel. After Sonny and Cher convince Scooby and the kids to stay at the hotel at least for the night, a mystery soon erupts involving the inn, a massive shark and the inn owner’s scam.
  • 1:30 p.m.: “The Dynamic Scooby-Doo Affair” -The gang teams up with Batman and Robin for a cliff-hanging tale about a counterfeit ring operated by the dynamic duo’s arch nemeses, the Joker and the Penguin.
  • 3:45 p.m.: “Scooby-Doo Meets Jeannie” – Scooby and the gang join Jeannie on a trip back in time to Persia to help a Prince fight evil “ghosts.” There, they learn of a legend that one of the Prince’s ancestors banished an evil genie to a bottle. With aid from a greedy uncle, the vengeful genie battles Mystery, Inc. with malevolent machinations to take over the Prince’s palace.
  • 6:45 p.m.: “A Good Medium is Rare” – Scooby-Doo and his companions are locked into an out-of-this-world mystery when they accompany Phyllis Diller to the Magic Mansion for a séance under the leadership of Madam Zokar.
