Kids’ WB! Unravels A New Saturday Morning Line-Up With The Second Season Debut Of “The Mummy: Secrets Of The Medjai”

(February 5, 2003 – Burbank, CA) – Kids’ WB! unearths the spirits with the second season of the exciting, heart-pounding series “The Mummy: Secrets of the Medjai,” as 11-year-old Alex O’Connell, and his parents Rick and Evy, embark on a suspenseful new quest. The high-adventure animated series returns to Kids’ WB!’s #1 Saturday morning line-up for a thrilling second season with original programming on Saturday, February 15 (9:30 a.m. ET/8:30 a.m. PT).

The highly anticipated new season of “The Mummy: Secrets of the Medjai” kicks off with part one of an adventurous two-parter, entitled “A New Beginning,” where the O’Connell family is sent to investigate the mysterious ransacks of several Egyptian tombs. A shocking discovery is made when they learn that Imhotep is seeking to resurrect another mummy…his long lost love – Anck Su Namun! Now Alex and his parents set out on a mission to stop Imhotep and Anck from obtaining the Scythe of Anubis, which would allow Imhotep to take over the world. The adventure wraps up in part two’s spectacular showdown on Saturday, February 22.

Leading up to the new schedule, Kids’ WB! presents an all-original Saturday morning line-up on February 8, as “Yu-Gi-Oh!” (airing at 8:00 a.m. ET, 8:30 a.m. ET and 11:00 a.m. ET), unleashes a riveting episodic trilogy, entitled “The Master of Magicians.” It’s Yugi versus the mysterious Rare Hunter Magician Arkana – and his evil cohort Marik. Transported to the world’s most lethal dueling arena – where the loser becomes banished to the Shadow Realm, Yugi finds himself outmatched when Arkana also holds a powerful Dark Magician card in his deck. It’s Dark Magician versus Dark Magician…until Yugi reveals his shocking secret card when the dazzling duel concludes in the climactic part three airing of “Yu-Gi-Oh!” at 11:00 a.m. ET.

In addition, on Saturday, February 15, the “Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelin’ Gear Giveaway Sweepstakes” will offer kids the chance to win one of two hundred prizes every hour. During each hour of Kids’ WB!’s Saturday morning programming block, kids will be invited to locate the secret code on-air in order to be eligible to win the prize for that hour. Once the viewer knows the secret code, kids may enter by logging onto www.KidsWB.com by Tuesday, February 18, or by sending in a postcard with the “Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelin’ Gear Giveaway Sweepstakes” answers by Tuesday, February 18. The prizes for the morning include Mattel’s Dungeon Dice Monsters Game Starter Set & Booster Pack, Collectible Figure Game, the Sport-Fun® Yu-Gi-Oh!™ Skateboard, Accessory Network’s Yu-Gi-Oh!™ Backpack, and Konami’s “Yu-Gi-Oh!™: Dungeon Dice Monsters” game for Game Boy® Advance.

In the exciting second season, “The Mummy: Secrets of the Medjai” explores ruins, tombs and ancient, mystical methods to stop the very-much alive Mummy. Ardeth Bay will become Alex’s mentor, instructing him in the secrets of the Medjai warrior while training him at the Medjai Academy. Ardeth also will play a key role in Alex’s self-discovery – and will help teach him to control the powerful Manacle and enhance his abilities and skills. The action-adventure begins when Alex and his parents, Rick and Evy, embark on a different quest – a proactive search – to find and return the Mummy to the Underworld. As the O’Connell’s track down Imhotep – facing peril and a whole lot of new and fearless villains along the way – the family uncovers the truth about their pasts, discovering that their own destinies are linked to the survival of the world…and that Alex has been chosen for greatness.
