[via press release]

Kids’ WB!’s Saturday Morning Line-Up Gets A Jolt As Returning Hit “Static Shock”

(January 23, 2002 – Burbank, CA) — Kids’ WB! is thrilled to kick-off the second season of the high-adventure hit series “Static Shock,” introducing new treacherous “meta-humans” and an array of special guest stars. The electrically-charged series returns to Kids’ WB!’s #1 Saturday morning broadcast line-up on Saturday, January 26 (8:30 a.m. ET/7:30 a.m. PT).

The exciting new season debuts with the superhero episode entitled “The Big Leagues,” bringing the infamous dynamic duo – Batman and Robin to Dakota in search of The Joker (Mark Hamill, “Star Wars”). “Uncle J” to the meta-humans, The Joker is wreaking his own special brand of “hilarious” havoc on the citizens of Dakota, giving Static the opportunity of a lifetime…to team up with his superhero – the Dark Knight.

“Static Shock,” based on the Milestone/DC Comics property, follows the adventures of quick-witted Virgil Hawkins, who becomes the electromagnetic “Static” – a super hero to his community. This high-adventure series introduces the first African-American teen animated superhero and tackles some of the real problems and issues faced by kids today, including peer pressure, gun violence, homelessness and growing up in an ethnically diverse urban neighborhood.
