Kids’ WB! Announces 2001-2002 Schedule
(August 31, 2001 – Burbank, CA) – Kids’ WB!, a market leader in kids’ television, which has maintained its top-rated position as the #1 broadcast network for the past two seasons, will launch its first-ever live-action series and add five new animated series to its top-rated Saturday morning and weekday slates during the 2001-2002 television season. Kids’ WB!’s new season officially kicks-off with the premiere of the Saturday morning line-up on Saturday, Sept. 15, and its new Monday-Friday line-up beginning on Monday, Sept. 17.
The network’s Saturday morning and weekday schedules will feature its first live-action series, “The Nightmare Room” from best-selling children’s author R.L. Stine, as well as the hot new animé series “Yu-Gi-Oh!,” the all-new animated series “The Mummy,” the 3D-CGI animated series “Cubix” and the animated series “Rescue Heroes: Global Response Team.” Returning favorites include “Jackie Chan Adventures” airing six days a week, “Pokémon: Johto League Champions,” “X-Men: Evolution,” “Cardcaptors,” “Static Shock” and “The Zeta Project.”
On Saturday, September 15, the morning line-up jump-starts at 8:00 a.m. ET with the next installment of the top-rated series “Pokémon: Johto League Champions.” The new stunning 3D-CGI animated series “Cubix,” from the same team that brought “Pokémon”
to Kids’ WB!, moves to its new time period at 8:30 a.m. ET. “Cubix,” which debuted
in August, presents a world where there is “a robot for everyone.”
Returning hit “Jackie Chan Adventures” (9:00 a.m. ET) takes on a new mission this season as Jackie and his feisty 11-year-old niece, Jade, must stop the evil Shendu from releasing seven different demons in all-new exciting episodes. Based on the blockbuster-hit feature film franchise, “The Mummy” (9:30 a.m. ET) follows 11-year-old Alex O’Connell, and his parents Rick and Evy, on a race around the world to discover a set of powerful scrolls…before the awesome Mummy captures them. Set in the 1930s, the series combines exotic locations with a contemporary attitude, and plenty of comedy and high-adventure.
The Saturday line-up also will feature a second bonus airing of “Pokémon: Johto League Champions” at 10:00 a.m. ET, with all-original high-adventure episodes. In addition, last season’s breakout hit is back as “X-Men: Evolution” (10:30 a.m. ET) introduces new characters and delves deeper into the rich, intriguing mythology of the X-Men world.
At 11:00 a.m. ET, “The Nightmare Room” debuts with all-new thrilling and chilling scary adventures from the highly-acclaimed and wildly popular children’s author R.L. Stine. “The Nightmare Room” brings to life adaptations of Stine’s newest hit book series and all-original spooky-fun stories written just for Kids’ WB! The live-action anthology series will take viewers to a world beyond reality…where nightmares just might be real. Kids’ WB! rounds-off its Saturday morning line-up with “Yu-Gi-Oh!” (11:30 a.m. ET), the latest Japanese animé hit. The series is based on the comic book series and follows the adventures of Yugi as his life takes an adventurous turn when he solves an ancient Egyptian riddle called the “Millennium Puzzle” — and becomes the powerful “Game King.” The game is on…as Yugi plays games to defeat his monster rivals.
On Monday, September 17, Kids’ WB! will premiere its new Monday-Friday line-up with exciting adventures of “Cardcaptors” (3:00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday). The all-original animated series “Rescue Heroes: Global Response Team,” which premiered in July, moves to weekdays with two 11-minute adrenaline-pumping episodes airing on Wednesdays at 3:00 p.m. The series follows the ultimate emergency team around the globe to save anyone in life-threatening situations, with many stories drawn from actual headlines. The Monday-Friday line-up also will include episodes of the smash-hit series “Pokémon” (3:30 p.m.) and “Pokémon: The Johto Journeys” (4:00 p.m.) followed by action-comedy episodes of “Jackie Chan Adventures” (4:30 p.m.).
Also coming to Kids’ WB! later this season will be the returning hit series “Static Shock,” starring the first African-American teen animated superhero, and the futuristic high-adventure “The Zeta Project.”
