Cartoon Network Goes Off the Sheep End
Cartoon Network to Premiere New Original Program Friday, Nov. 17, 9:30-10 p.m. (ET, PT)
Cartoon Network will premiere its ninth original half-hour animated series, SHEEP IN THE BIG CITY, on November 17, 2000. Created by Mo Willems and produced at Curious Pictures in New York, SHEEP IN THE BIG CITY chronicles the sardonically perilous adventures of a sheep on the lam.
The show is a classic livestock-out-of-water story about a sheep, named Sheep, who runs away from the farm and hides out in the big city because a Top Secret Military Organization is after him. Sheep faces problems any urban-dweller can relate to, like finding a nice apartment, balancing work and social life, and avoiding being pummeled by a rich socialite with a stainless steel wig. Each half hour of SHEEP IN THE BIG CITY is broken into cliffhanger chapters strung together by an omnipresent narrator, satirical skits and commercial and TV spoofs.
SHEEP IN THE BIG CITY joins Cartoon Network’s current slate of original shows, including Dexter’s Laboratory, Cow and Chicken, Johnny Bravo, The Powerpuff Girls, Ed, Edd n Eddy, I Am Weasel, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and Mike, Lu & Og. Cartoon Network has produced more than 230 half-hours of original programming and currently has nearly 130 half-hour episodes in production. To date, Cartoon Cartoons have received six Emmy nominations, an Academy Awardâ nomination, two CableAce nominations and two Annie Awards.
