Kids’ WB! Strikes With Lightning-Fast Move For Second Season Pick-Up Of New Saturday Morning Hit “Jackie Chan Adventures” From Sony Pictures Family Entertainment Group

(October 12, 2000 – Burbank, CA) – Kids’ WB!, a leader in kids’ television, has ordered an additional 13 original episodes of this season’s breakout Saturday morning hit “Jackie Chan Adventures” from Sony Pictures Family Entertainment Group (SPFE) for a second season in Fall 2001. The announcement was made today by Donna Friedman, Senior Vice President, Kids’ WB!, and Sander Schwartz, President, Sony Pictures Family Entertainment Group.

Kids’ WB!’s early renewal of the show clearly indicates confidence and enthusiasm for SPFE’s innovative and much lauded animated series. Since making its auspicious debut on September 9, 2000 on Kids’ WB!, “Jackie Chan Adventures” has soared in the ratings and has gained impressive viewership. Airing on Saturdays at 9:00 AM (ET)/ 8:00 AM (PT), the first four airings of “Jackie Chan Adventures” ranked as Kids WB!’s #2 Saturday morning program (only behind Pokémon) among the key demographic of Boys 2-11, plus Teens 12-17, Male Teens 12-17 and Households. In addition, “Jackie Chan Adventures” is the 9:00 AM (ET)/ 8:00 AM (PT) time period leader among the broadcast networks, season-to-date, in Kids 2-11, Kids 6-11, Kids 2-5, Boys 2-11, Boys 6-11 and Boys 2-5.

“We have had a wonderful partnership with Jackie Chan and the creative team at Sony Pictures Family Entertainment throughout the development and production of the show. We are thrilled that ‘Jackie Chan Adventures’ has proven to be the breakout hit we knew it would be,” said Ms. Friedman. “With such a stellar performance, we excitedly look forward to 13 all-new episodes joining our hit schedule for the Fall 2001 season.”

“Given Jackie Chan’s worldwide popularity and the show’s increasing momentum, we’re thrilled that Kids’ WB! is supporting the series with a second season pick-up,” said Mr. Schwartz. “Young viewers are drawn to Jackie’s magnetic persona in this new animated series featuring great stories and exiting adventures,” he added.

“Jackie Chan Adventures” centers on Jackie, an expert archeologist recruited by a covert government agency to uncover an ancient conspiracy. Taking his feisty 11-year-old niece along for the ride, Jackie’s daring mission involves locating 12 magical talismans scattered around the world, each one possessing amazing powers. These dangerous assignments send Jackie into a pulse-pounding race against time as a crime ring of martial arts experts try to stop him at every turn. Each action-packed episode features international superstar Jackie Chan in live-action segments within the main title and body of the series as well as voicing key elements of the show. Recently, the popular alternative band Wheatus created the catchy tune “Chan’s the Man” for the series.

Kids’ WB!, a leader in kids’ television, is the children’s programming service of The WB Network. The network has set precedent with its innovative and diverse 2000-2001 programming schedule and is the #1 broadcast network for the second consecutive season.
