Nickelodeon Pulls “Legend of Korra” from TV, Moves to Digital Premieres

The Legend of Korra

Note: This article has been updated throughout with the latest information…

It was only a matter of time…

Since its June 27 premiere, The Legend of Korra has been troubled with low ratings. From as high as 1.5 million on the first episode to as low as 1.2 million on the fourth and fifth episodes, it was only a matter of time before episodes were either rescheduled or pulled completely.

Now, Nickelodeon has started pulling the episodes completely from TV. After seven new episodes of Book Three’s 13 have aired, Nick has pulled one episode from this Friday (episode 8 “The Terror Within” is still airing at 8 p.m. ET/PT) as well as all four episodes from August 1 and 8.

Shortly after we first reported this story, Korra co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino took to Tumblr and Facebook to report that episodes were moving to digital. Then Nickelodeon announced that starting August 1, new episodes will roll-out weekly online at Nick.com and through digital platforms like Amazon, Google Play, Xbox and Hulu.

Still, no episodes are scheduled to air on television following this Friday’s 8th episode premiere. Nicktoons (the channel) has also not shown any of this Book’s episodes, despite showing previous books.

Editor’s Note: It’s important to know that Korra’s Book 4 is still in production. Never did our article allude to a cancelation, as others may have reported or feared. We simply noted the fact that Nickelodeon had pulled episodes from their television network’s schedule.
