RIP Steve Viksten, Writer and Voice Actor on “Hey Arnold!”

Steve Viksten, who wrote many episodes of Hey Arnold! including the theatrical movie, passed away Monday, June 23 at age 54.

Craig Bartlett, creator of Hey Arnold!, posted on his Facebook Tuesday that he “was lucky to be near to so much talent for so long.” (The photo posted above is also credited to Bartlett’s Facebook post)

The Huffington Post also received a statement from Nickelodeon: “We are deeply saddened to learn that Steve Viksten has passed away. Steve was a gifted artist and we were honored to have the opportunity to work with him on our beloved shows ‘Hey Arnold!’ and ‘Rugrats.’ Our heartfelt condolences go out to his loved ones.”

Steve Viksten is well remembered as the voice of Oskar Kokoshka on Hey Arnold! He also wrote several episodes of Rugrats and one episode each for Recess and The Simpsons.

Some notable episodes Viksten wrote for Hey Arnold! include the first episode “Downtown as Fruits,” “Arnold’s Hat,” “Stoop Kid,” “Arnold’s Thanksgiving,” “Dino Checks In” and “Married” among others.
